  1. My top stoppers arrived today, and ive ordered some new front pads. Hopefully the right ones this time. Part number was correct so if not im flipping out... haha. Got another weekend off so hopefully ill get a bit more done over the weekend. One other question though, The rear caliper, is it bolted on with bolts, or allen keys? As mine has allen keys and im pretty sure im rounding them off. Thanks
  2. Blimy mate, you dont hang around with this did you? I feel for you as well, after spendingthe same sort of money on my vr last year which "only needed a service and a it of TLC" I got it home to find it was leaking oil everywhere, brakes were buggered/non existant, the front springs cut for "custom lows", loads of holes in the floor. Good job on getting this far so quickly though. Certainly, I wouldnt want to be taking out the dash in this weather either,. Keep it up and enjoy the times you can drive it.
  3. More emails today (y) Got a reply off the seller I got the pads from, Getting a full refund plus my postage covered which is good. I also emailed the seller of the top mount stopper/washer asking if they had another one, which they did! That makes my life easier when i do the other side
  4. Dam man. Thats going too be insanely shiney when complete. Well done on it man and enjoy the evenings after work...working? haha.
  5. Ahhh bollocks.... Thanks though Lukey Would be stuck without you helping me out a lot haha. I have emailed the seller already and waiting on a reply, most likely by monday now. And I have also managed to find myself one strut stopper, just have to hope i dont need to cut the other one off.
  6. Yer they do. Was just thinking of cutting them off but as they are looking to be the wrong ones, im glad i didn't.
  7. DP3981C Is what it said on the ebay ad. May have too email the seller and say its the wrong one, see if i can get a replacement. Even though the ad stated OBD2 which is really frustrating.
  8. Yesterday I managed to fit the rear strut after getting the spacer filed down about 5mm. After that I took out the old front brake pads to change them too the new ones, but the new ones look a lot smaller? even though they are the obd2 ones? Deciding too leave the brakes, stripped the rear out a bit and came across this in the uunder the seats, loads of glass pieces. Standard I think. And too top it off, a bodge on the rear strut (not the one I have changed I would like too point out) I am still trying too find some top strut stoppers for the front suspension but all the ones im
  9. Coming along really well mate (Y) Looking forward too the fresh colour
  10. Ok then. Thought it would be ok but wanted others opinions. Thanks.
  11. SSOOOO.... not a lot been happening really. Went to fit my rear coilover today, and i am stuggling with it. As when i am going to fit the rubber mount, nuts and washers inside the boot, I am not left with any thread to fit the first nut on. Heres some pictures to help explain my problem a bit more, The new coilovers thread are about 3mm shorter than the old ones, top one is the new one. All the space i have too work with, THe brass bit that seems too long, so i am wondering if, 1) i can shave them down a couple of mm to the length I need, or 2) can you get shorter ones?
  12. Great bit of fine detailing there man! Its the little things that make a car stand out sometimes. Question though, when you changed the rear discs and pads, were some of the bolts allan keys? as im having difficulties with mine. Cant wait too see this finished though man. Keep it up
  13. Bloody hell man. One mad busy "day off" got a lot done and is looking real smart so far. Those wheels look so much better already. You keeping them silver?
  14. Ohhh right. Ok thanks. Thats a pain. Thanks again.
  15. not the best pic but this piece. Its the metal plate that has the rubber over it. Sits on top of the suspension strut in the engine bay. Appologises for poor wording, its what i thought they were called.
  16. This is going to be an odd question. But when fitting a front strut brace, do you still need the top strut stoppers? As i need two new stoppers but would also like a strut brace soon. Thanks.
  17. recces has coming along nicely there man! Looks good on those wheels as well (Y) Cant say i have ever heard of them or even seen a set like them! Uber rare wheels really
  18. Well played on the welding mate! Guess it should be good as it is your trade mind Really is coming along. If i can ask though, what wheels are these? As they look really good and suit the car well. Looking forward to this progressing, especially the recces shorting.
  19. This looks to have come a long way from when you got it. Colour looks immense! Such a deep shine to it too being fresh paint and all. Think we all get what you mean by only having odd weekends on the car. But well pplayed. Look forward too seeing this come on a bit further
  20. was the nearside that failed so passengers... was intending too do both but i may wait now until it does go. As i have just put the sump back on. Thanks for the advice though.
  21. Im looking on Ebay for new ones anyway. They appear to come with all bushes and already black. Which is fine for me
  22. Fair plays then... Thank you for the help. Order a set of VR ones if i can find some. haha.
  23. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-GOLF-MK3-92-98-FRONT-2-SUSPENSION-WISHBONE-ARMS-ARM-/280172400185?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3AGolf%7CPlat_Gen%3AMK+III%7CCars+Type%3A2.8+VR6&hash=item413b938e39 Is there any reason why this wouldnt work on a vr6? or do i need too buy specific vr6 ones?
  24. I would be doing it my self mate. Well, having a go at least. haha. Thanks though for that confirmation
  25. One of the failss on the MOT was the lower arm bush had gone. I Have been told by my local mechanic that it would be easier to replace the whole part rather than just the bush. In this case, am I looking for the "control wishbone arm" ? And would it be worth changing both sides at the same time for handling? Thank you for the help.
