I had a brief look and only really found mk2 golf ones at £30+ quid each. However that was only a quick look
-
Did you find any of these on ebay? As i am after some as well for my mk3. Cheers.
-
Hi mate. Do you still have the front 5 stud hubs? As i am after the drivers side one please? Also, do you by any chance have the metal rear disc shield things? I am unsure on the proper name of them, but its what goes behind the disc to help stop so much brake dust going on to the wheels. cheers.

score! well played mate. You have certainly earned the driving of this. I like the cooler on the front. Have always wondered what it was on the old jap cars. -
cool. cheers guys. worked out how to do it. however when i was going to attach them realised i needed new rear disc shields? so the rubber dust gromet fits properly.

As I am changing the rear stub axels, I am also fitting new bearings. Would anyone have a diagram on how to do them? Or should I take it to a garage to do?
-
So I am changing the rear stub axels on my car, and therefore need new bearings. Is this possible to do myself? Does anyone have a guide on how to fit the bearings on? Cheers.

this is coming along really nicely man. need to get myself to a show you are at and have a proper look at it. keepit up man and hope your belt issue gets sorted soon. -
Managed to make a start on my ibiza with removing the front hubs an fitting new ones along with new driveshafts for the vr engine to go in. I have also manage to locate a new wiring loom for this so will be looking at swapping that over in the next weeks. Unfortunately, work is slow as i am also in the middle of switching gearboxes and fitting coilovers on my daily polo.

So after a lot of hanging about with only half days off and no lights at my cars location work on the golf has been slow. however, engine is now out! Just got too move it to my garage where i can start changing bits. Few little things with it though. Would it be worth me buying a new loom for it as it has been sat out in rain snow ect (covered) for a fair old while. I am also planning on removing the hubs off the golf and transferring onto my ibiza. This way Ill be able too keep my breaks that i bought and also be able to stop better. Which is always a bonus. cheers.

guessing that the OBD2 has the two chains then? Plus does anyone know the part number for the chain/kit that I would be needing?
-
Is there a differance in timing chains for the OBD1 and OBD2 engines?
-
That sounds fair. I would rather pay a bit more to make sure it is right. Thanks for help.

Ok then. That'll make sense then. Ill start getting parts together. Are there any guides on here on how to remove the engine, how to change the belts etc? Changing headgasket and any pipes wil be easy enough as a itll be strait swap.
-
ok thank you. Will need to get my shopping list done and start buying new parts then. I do have a specialist manual for the vr6 engine. is there any paticular part makes i should look for or not?

Hey, I would like some help concering what sort of parts people recommend changing when rebuilding an engine up. The engine has done 155k miles and is coming out of my 97 obd2 golf, to be put inside a mk2 Seat Ibiza. Things i am thinking of changing if easy enough for a novice are, 1) the piston rings, 2) the head gasket, 3) cambelt? 4)? anything else that breaks in the process of me doing this. ? Thank you for the help.

Will be ordering new rings soon for the engine once it is out. I am also thinking of changing the cambelt on it while the engine is out and easy to get to. Is it a fairly simple job or is there more to it compared to say a polo? Plus, how easy is it to do the rings? Cheers.

That shine is insane! i am in love. With your engine, I am following your thread carefully so I know what too do on mine. I am thinking of doing the cambelt and probably the piston rings on mine if that helps you at all. What you thinking of changing/upgrading to yours? -
Oh feck...bit more than i imagined then...I can save though.. Or just skip the pistons and just change rings and possibly do the head gasket. However i have found this. and unsure whether to purchase it not. haha. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Genuine-VW-2-8-VR6-93-98-AAA-Bare-engine-Block-Pistons-/161403015028?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item25945e8f74

So, looking at new rings and pistons for the VR, looks like its £100 for rings and £400 plus for pistons? is this about right? Also, would they be the same for obd1 and obd2 engines? I have obd2 engine as well.

Thats my winter plan for mine now. Taking out the engine and rebuliding it with new pistons and rings and anything else I may need. It has done 154k so would imagine it'll need a few other bits. But it'll be the first time i have ever done anything like it. So a tad nervous. Good luck with yours though, the piper cams sound cool as well
