    ECYOUS

Hi All Ive a project in mind that will display realtime ecu info into the cockpit using a blue/green/orange/yellow 4x20 character LCD display or a GLCD. Since four lines x 20 characters isnt really a lot of info then the system would be switchable to display other aspects with a pre-determined time display to allow the info to be injested or sent out to a laptop for further analysis. Basicly anything the ecu handles should be displayable !!!. Now to the point of the post i need obd1/2 ecu,s in order to see how and whats managing the data transfer then i can build a test rig and squeeze as muc
  2. Lo M8 Will post you setting tommorow ,sorry first day schools back its been kinda hectic 8-) Stephen
  3. Lo M8 Ive godda be honest ive not noticed that angle on mine ,but then again i have,nt looked perhaps others can clirify this a little better. Stephen ps I meant rotate the wheel clockwise/anticlockwise is the the test you performed ?.
  4. Hmm Disconnecting the battery should,nt have caused any fault to the ecu,s unless connected whilst the ignition is on so you can probably rule this out. Is there any way you can test both ecu,s/transponder/halos on another engine setup ?. Failing that you,ll need to obtain a third ecu setup in order to prove the other two faulty ?. Stephen
  5. Jack it up and rock the wheel right and left and listen for a dull metallic clunk + play before resistance this is a sign of a worn UJ ,which youll need to replace another test is to blip the throttle quickly whilst on the road youll feel a slight lag then noise as the UJ plays catch up. Stephen ps when you rebuilt the DS did you check for squaring of the bearing ?.
  6. Lo M8 To be sure it is the ecu thats at fault you need to Eliminate the ignition and fuel system, then we can look at the ecu,s control functions it could be a number of things within the ecu causing your problem more than likely the RFID halo reader etc etc . Also please post an accurate description of the timescale of events. Thanks Stephen Stephen
  7. Lo M8 Open the bonnet and rev the engine gently ,shes a big girl but well restrained any noticeable movement will be evident ,if its not the mounts then check driveshafts/wishbones for play. good luck Stephen
  8. Lo M8 get a thermometer preferably lcd with probe and strap it to your inlet manifold ? lets see what temps your talking about hot n cold. Thanks stephen
  9. Lo m8 Obd will read Unauthorised as you,ve nothing there to read which is the default obd response. What dies when the imobilser kicks in ? a) ignition ie no spark fuel ie nothing at the rails c) starter ie does,nt turn over Stephen Ps im new to the vr6 (not the engine) but will assist you where possible
  10. Hmm Whats melted the fan unit ? m8 do make sure youve no loose bare wiring and get a second opinion on the cause just to be on the safe side. Stephen
  11. Lo M8 You may need to polish the crank journal before fitting new shells if your unlucky and have marred the journal surface, if you have dont just fit new shells or you,ll be visiting your crank again very soon !!! instead get a strip of 1000,s.1200,s emery paper oil it up and polish out ant imperfections. There a doddle to fit as they have locating tongues just use a little vaseline to stick one half to the upper conrad section as you push it of the crank then pull back down into place and add the end cap, you,ll get the idea when you turn into a fruit bat to work upside down lol. Stephen ps
  12. Lo M8 Youd think so, but if its a partial failure of the mounting then any inbalance would be cushioned by the universal joint on the drive shaft but personally id investigate it further and find the cause and rectify it. Stephen ps would be good to know what sort of angle you guys have and if this as any detrimental effect on lubing the outer two cam lobes etc etc ?.
  13. Lo M8 What colour is your Dub as Highlines are specific colours only ?. Stephen
  14. Lo M8 Lets see the sight then ?. Stephen Sony dlsr/photoshop cs4
  15. Lo M8 Also check the throttle cable and body to ensure its returning correctly to its stop position. Stephen
  16. Lo M8 If its on constant then the rad temp sensor is at fault and will need replacing, but test it first with a multimeter if you have one and your kettle just to ensure its is infact faulty and not a wiring issue. Stephen
  17. Lo M8 There restricted due to the size and cabin space but are easy enough to work with, but as already mentioned you,ll fook the leads if you just pull on em so best invest in the right tool for the job. Stephen Ps if your stuck with owt just ask.
  18. You should,nt have any noticeable lean, so investigate and rectify the cause before any possible further damage occurs. As for the rusty coloured mount staining this could be coolant overflow from the reservoir botlle, here again you need to look at whats caused it ie overfilling, slight overheating during a heavy road session, head gasket issues ?. Hope This Assist Stephen
  19. Lo M8 Pull the connecter of the h/b switch and using a short peice of wire connect both terminals together, if the dash light illuminates its the switch if not then change the dash bulb.(li) Stephen
  20. lo m8 i cant see the head gasket change itself causing this malfunction since the rev counters electronic and not mechanical ,id be looking for a loose connection or nipped/frayed wire caused by the head displacement. failing that you need to diagnose whats causing the surge in current/resistance which causes your clocks to bounce. Stephen
  21. also make sure you,ve no airlock or youll be heating fresh air and hence the tropical temp !!!!!!,only just got my vr so unsure wetha theres a bleed valve lurking in the pipework somewhere. Essef
