  3. Not familiar with the setup to be honest ,but cant you fit the new motor to the orignal housing ? thus gaining the second fan drive. Or better still get a fan from the scrappers (any fan) and wire/fit to the original housing. And to check the new fan/setup runs just short the stat that handles the switching. Stephen
  4. it would help others searching for answer more if you actually posted what exactly "sorted" it m8 Stephen
  5. ? yours is obd2 and probably has the 16 pin std receptor ,where as the op is obd1 and will most likely have the 2x2 (dual k line) connectors needing the additional adapter. 8-|
  6. Remove inlet manifold Remove stat housing Replace with new pipe and O rings Easy Enough job m8 Ps clean up the water pump side orifice before fitting the new pipe or it may weep pps heres the bugger http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/COOLANT-PIPE-NEW-VR6-GOLF-MK3-CORRADO-VENTO-PASSAT-TRANSPORTER-T4-2004-/390412277323?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5ae662964b

  9. Check the binding rear brake calipers (common problem) which after a warmup period will release, only to go "sticky" again once the H/B,s used. Stephen
  10. Why the conversion ? Stephen btw im in sunny lancs also
  11. Its there to disrupt/mix the incoming airflow across the sensor, but i would,nt envisage any problems running without it. Stephen
  12. Yes m8 service the solenoid pay attention to the piston and any dust boot, and lightly oil it with wd40. Then test and ensure its operaration before re-installing. Stephen
  13. All of your fault codes are minor issues including the solenoid which i presume is for pressure relief ? (advise) , remove and clean up the plunger then refit or you can bench test it with a battery charger. Stephen
  14. Since the method of tensioning is via hydraulic pressure the length of adjustment as shown in your picture should be ignored, use the tensioner which show the least piston scoring (hence less chance of failure). After re-fitting start up at idle only and ensure chain gear is without noise ,a short chain noise may be heard untill oil pressure is exerted to the rear of the tensioner. Stephen
  15. Its a carbon filtered cannister which i beleive is used to sample air quality ,and is switched in when sampling by the ecu is required. Stephen
  16. !!!! sounds like a seized motor m8 you should definately be able to rotate it CW or CCW and youd feel it park on the head thru your rachet/torque wrench. Wip the head off and inspect the bores m8. Stephen
  17. What ever you use make sure the coating is as thin as possible ie no primer and just enough paint to cosmeticly give the effect you want, most finishes are thermally insulative and hence effect the engines heat dissapation thats the reason there not painted in pretty colours from the factory. Stephen
  18. Chances are both the big ends and mains have had the same usage, so it becomes false economy to do just the B/Es as you,ll more than likeley need to replace them very soon anyway and there just as easy to do, just slacken all the end caps first this will allow you to slide in/out the new/old shell easily, use plenty of clean oil when fitting. Stephen
  19. Bleed nipples on the upper housing m8. just bleed as if you were venting a caliper. Stephen
  20. Bleed the pump manually M8 You,ll still have the ABS light untill you take it for a spin and all the sensors register then it,ll extinguish. Good Luck stephen
  21. Lo m8 Apols for the delay heres the torque settings Mains 22FT/IBS OR 3KGM + 180deg or 1/2 turn. Big Ends 22FT/IBS OR 3KGM +180deg or 1/2 turn. Sump Bolts 11FT/IBS OR 1.5KGM Tighten in a diagonal sequence. Stephen ps Presumably your doing the mains aswell ?.
  22. Lo M8 Vibration=Somethings out of balance or broken and not performing the damping its intended to. A few things to check out ie driveshafts/wheel bearings/clutch/mountings/suspension especially broken coil springs. Stephen
