  1. Ok, new problem. The new fan that I got from GSF yesterday is the one without the pully on the front to drive the other fan, so I rang them again to see if they had the one I wanted and they don't do it, so I went to eurocar parts and they have the one I want for £100 but can't get it for 2 days, tried VW on the off chance and they could get one in 2 days for £240!! So I'm pretty much boned now and I needed the car tomorrow... Don't suppose anyone has got a spare or an old one?
  2. Hello all, Had a small problem with the VR over heating earlier today while I was waiting in traffic, temp gauge went off the scale and the temp light started to flash. Pulled off the road and stopped the engine immediately, popped the bonnet open and found that the fan right hand fan (the belt driven one) had jammed and caused the fan motor to burn out. I've got a new motor anywho and will change it later, what I need to know tho is how to test it after Ive fit it.
  3. a good excuse to upgrade to 312's me thinks
  4. Hi All I've been getting a strange groaning noise coming from my brakes at very low speeds recently, so this morning i took them to pieces and found this:- anywho, i chipped off that ridge with a screwdriver and hammer and put it all back together. What could cause this?
  5. That was all that was left this morning, a far cry from last year!
  6. Ok, update time. the after i changed the MAF it started doing it again, so i got the bad boy up on the ramp and changed the Lamdba sensor (knew that was on the way out anyway as had a previous code for it) but the was still no difference. Took it to a vag specialist yesterday and left it with them. Later that day they called back and despite taking it for a good drive round and vagcom ing it they could re-create the fault or find anything wrong with it. So i went to pick it up this morning, drove it home and it started doing it again, stopped for petrol as it was nearly empty, started it up ag
  7. Happy to report that despite not having access to a vagcom computer, i decided to have a quick check of the MAF while i was fixing other bits and bobs, and it appears that the filliment in the sensor was abit broken, so after a quick replace (picked up from GSF for £65) and a good blat around town, all seems to be good Many thanks on some good advice.
  8. Hi all, Last couple of days my VR has been having a a strange miss fire/coughing fit , from cold it drives fine and seems until it gets up to temperature, then it starts to miss fire badly and lose a load of power for a couple of miles, then it will be fine again after that for the remainder of the drive. Plugs and leads are only 2 months old and I've already checked and the coil pack is only a year old and still looks in good condition (that surface is stil intact and not arcing onto the case from what I can tell). Can anyone suggest what the problem might be or had the problem before? Many
  9. Yeah i thought of doing that at one point. Had a bit of a play around with photoshop to see what it would look like but eventually decided against it as i prefer mine the way it is. I did however come across some pretty decent looking lights which fit in the bumper grilles, here they are on ebay:- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-MK3-Golf-Euro-Front-Bumper-Fog-Light-Grille-Kit-/180614372112?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a0d749b10#ht_2648wt_1139
  10. Hi there, I had this problem with mine too after i had mine in the get the windows blacked. Mine's also got an old full closure alarm system on it and the sunroof stopped closing when i locked the car too. It turns out that the place that did them left both the doors and windows open and managed to kill what was alright quite an old battery, anywho, after i replaced the battery the porblems went away. Hope this helps some.
  11. I'm not looking to making it too hardcore or take it racing anything like that, just fast road and afew track days maybe.
  12. Awesome, thanks for the feedback guys. Does it make a noticable difference to the handling then? I've had a look at the ones mentioned above and still not entirely sure which to go for.
  13. Hi all, I have been thinking about fitting a front strut brace to my '96 Mk3 vr6 at the same time that I do the shocks and i started to wonder...Is it worth doing? and if so, Which one to get? Cheers cheers Baz
  14. That's awesome Davee! Thanks alot mate.
