  1. thanks that is really helpful and will help loads when im fitting it, cheers for getting all those pics ! vwowner - yeah just looked and seems to be a simple fit through the fire wall. and what spec are thoses wheels you had as im looking for the front set on german ebay
  2. just spent some time measuring up and i cant see why not ? length and width are the same from what i measured
  3. right im with you. does the dash have to come out before fitting the cylinder etc and how easy is it to fit the hydro clutch system ? any chance you could write up a few steps for changing it
  4. ah ok then how hards the main subframe to change ? and yeah , well i hope so !
  5. great that saves alot of hassle , i have a front cross member with front engine mount and if it comes to it a main subframe. cant wait for it to be a vr6 , but honestly - vr6 or gti ?
  6. got all of those parts including clocks but bar the gearbox mount. when you say sub frame do you mean the cross memeber that holds the front engine mount ? also as far as changing the fuse boxes etc is it a straight swap ?
  7. wondering if the 5 door headlining will fit the 3 door ? it looks very similar.
  8. hi, i have a crashed damaged vr6 with all mechanical parts working, im also getting a mk3 gti and was just wondering what has to be done to convert the gti to vr6? im guessing: engine gearbox wiring loom ecu exhaust mani gear shift parts but what else do i need ?
  9. end result - was going to need a new drivers side chassis leg , then need to be jigged to straighten up everthing else. £800 without the price for panels included. have decided to buy a mk3 that will be offered up to all the vr6 bits for a conversion, shame as it was a nice car but it just wasnt worth it and this new mk3 should make a better vr6!
  10. hard to believe but the windscreen is fine, i will search for the jigging dimensions. its around £200 to stick it on jig without anything else
  11. ha i saw the vr project youd done - wonder what spares you have from that... any guidance you can give me on this one is great - it hasnt bent the front subframe from what i can see, the brackets that it attaches to though look rather weak now but i guess could just be re welded on. There is no creasing on the bulkhead and whilst towing it there was no change in how it handles or sits. here are some pics.
  12. Been given a vr6 with front crash damage to the drivers side. can this be resolved or not? and how expensive would it be ? the car is really good apart from this :/
  13. thanks , got three companies coming out this week to have a look at it and see if its repairable or not. can anybody who knows there stuff on here about bodywork give their opinion? oh yeah there is also an engine ready to go !
  14. thanks , on sat its at repair shop to get get an estimate on putting it on a jig to straighten everything - how expensive should it be roughly? And im going to struggle on panels as they will be hugely expensive over here and shipping from uk isnt easy ! i need : Bumper Slam panel Radiator panel Front subframe ( that front engine mount is on ) N/S and O/S wings Bonnet
  15. here it is as it came this morning- i have the engine, it is removed and will go in after body shop. Got started stripping all the damaged bits I need quite a few parts, is the best thing just to put them in the wanted section?
  16. came accross someone with a manual 3 door silver vr6 standing in there back garden. Front crash damage - wings, bumper, slam panel all pushed in, dent in bonnet plus bent front leg. Rest is in good order with lowered springs - stainless rear silencer - good tyres and original rims in good nick - engine is removed waiting to go back in. hopefully car is being collected tomorrow as its a short drive to pull it home. Considering my best options here as the rest of the car is in good order. Might remove front bumper + slam panel then reinstall engine and gearbox- see if it can be driven then go
  17. that engine looks mint ! i think the angle is probably normal , my guess now is the gearbox mount as it had a little oil seeping from the top when last off .
  18. just ran her up ,reved and not much movement but have noticed the engine leans towards the gearbox side slightly. jacked the front up and there wasnt any noise when moving the wheel right and left - there wasnt any free movement i felt resistance straight away. will get a pic of how its leaning.
  19. right ok and when checking the driveshafts what kind of movement am i looking for ? driveshafts have been off twice since the gearbox has been in and out a few times and one of the cv joints fell apart so had to be cleaned and reassembled with new driveshaft boot aswell.
  20. clunking noise when braking accelerating, its on an auto but from what i have read could be a mount on its way out. how much movement should there be when rocking/pushing the engine and whats the best way to test ? any other things it could be ?
  21. thsnks all sorted now, renewed for another year ! yeah i noticed a bit of fuel squirt out after removing the hose so just made sure a few rags where down when doing it again .
  22. decided to go for the more expensive piping that had fuel injection rating etc listed . Is it easy to renew my membership as it ran out today ?
  23. buying some fuel hose for the golf as the upper return and feed are past it. is the clear reinforced PVC alright ( not sure how it would look and last ) or better to use normal black pipe ? I think its 8mm inner diameter can anyone confirm this
  24. these need replacing , rusty as hell and patched . In Guersney they want £360 all in. this is mad , whats the cheapest option ? - not trying to cut corners just out of budget now
  25. really ? ! i wonder.... i have some good auto gearbox spares but don't know who would buy them - this might fund a new exhaust system as most of its knackered
