  1. on my doner car ( a crashed vr6 ) the front cross member is straight still. however the crossmember bushes and metal washer things are distorted. how do i remove them as i want to replace them and use the cross member . the pic IS NOT mine but it shows what i mean by front cross member

  3. just noticed gti has one fan but vr6 has twin fans. because the donor car was crash damaged i cant just swap the plastic front over that holds the two fans so what do i do ? the gti front doesnt allow you to just fit another fan it only fits the one.
  4. sound, let me know how you get on. yeah i did my timing chains and gearbox work all at the same time. He probably didnt remove sensor before dropping gearbox completely because i know as you drop it that particular sensor just catches - luckily i noticed before mine got smashed off.
  5. hi mate ' date=' i have the same problem. well u said u twisted it clockwise half a turn and it seems to be better but not 100% could u tell me how can i do that ? and where the heek is it ? here's a pictures [img']http://i748.photobucket.com/albums/xx129/moode4u/Undddtitled.jpg another thing , i heard mates saying to disconnect the battery for 15 - 20 min , and after that leave it idle, ( idle means to reconnect the battery and don't start the engine for 15 min ? or start the engine and leave it idle ? hi mate , yeah leaving it disconnected for 15 mins is ment to reset the ecu i think, and
  6. i wouldnt think so, but not 100% sure. I even took my valve body out and cleaned it myself this problem bugged me so much! my kickdown problems are so intermittent though, im trying to find out what else that switch does...
  7. i had this , sometimes was fine but used to sometimes not move back up. I then tested the kickdown about 20 times throughout one week and it played up about twice. All i can say is that i got the faults codes read and the throttle body sensor came up as intermittent. I never got the throttle body reset but will when i get a proper VAG COM tool as it is done elctronically.
  8. ok thats understandable but glad the tanks are the same ! is that all that will need changing ?
  9. does the 2l gti have the same fuel tanks as the vr6 ? or would i have to just change the pump? not sure with fuel systems !

  11. this is the cylinder ontop of the gearbox with the rod coming out of it - the little rod came out so i went to push it back in and the rubber boot on the cylinder split. all the fluid has leaked out - how can i resolve this ? really pissed with myself !
  12. sound , should be good then as i do have donor car how did you get on with the electrical side of things like the loom ?
  13. good choice to convert im just about to do this to my 2l gti, how easy is it ? do you have to change front cross member or front subframe?
  14. ok , guess that will need a new windscreen to solve issue then
  15. noticed that around the windscreen the glass has turned a misty white colour. i thought at first it was some kind of effect from the sun?
  16. cheers guys managed to get it off but had to sacrifice the thread on top of shock! Just need to get second bolt off and then the springs off. went around the gti and sprayed loads of wd40 type stuff on the bolts ready for next weekend
  17. is the front shock absorber same on gti as vr6 ? i have a vr6 spring and gti shock - they look identical
  18. the allen key slot has rounded in the top of the front suspension strut, will an impact gun justt removed the nut without having to counter hold with an allen key ?
  19. cheers , i found my homemade puller and after a few turns of the bolt it came off ?! useful bit of kit that i had forgotten id made
  20. i ment the stub axle is stuck to the hub. how can i release it ? hub nut is off etc
  21. now the hub nut fits im back to the problem with the hub not coming off. how do you get stuck on hubs off ? its on 165,00miles without much attention mechanically so everything is tight !
  22. sorted now with a grinder , file and loads of patience ! how do you remove hubs that are stuck on ? everything is disconnected but it isnt coming off
  23. yeah it was me rushing it before it got dark, should of hit it with copper one like you say and had the nut on so file it down and see if it fits and if not run a die over it ?
  24. was taking front hub off to change the wheel bearing and hit the driveshaft end with a hammer a few times to get the hub off. the hub is still stuck but i realised the nut no longer goes on the end ! stupid mistake but is there a way to sort it ? its a gti learnt my lesson!
