  1. Well the car needs some TLC and she's worth it! It was that or let her in doors loose with the credit card which was a very tough decision but after many, many seconds of deliberation I decided the car deserved it more! lol
  2. My mates mk3 tdi did the same thing and it was the rear suspension, you could see the back wheels lift of the ground when he went over any bumps. lol He put new shocks, springs and top bush's on and all is fine now.
  3. Bit of an update as i've not posted for a while. I've done a little bit to the car the past few weeks. I've put the replacement de-badged grill on, changed the crank sensor, removed the intake and TB and cleaned them up, I've also lowered the car on coilovers. Yet to do, i'm still looking for a set of nice wheels, want to re-trim the black plastics of the car as they are a little scabby and get the body work blown over with some fresh paint. I've got a spare £1000 or so to spend at the end of this month so that should be organised soon. After that I think i'll start thinking about taking her
  4. Try cleaning the MAF first with some carb cleaner.
  5. That looks beutifull mate, a nice straight example with some good mods.
  6. Could do with a wiring diagram for the charge circuit. Your definately not recieving the voltage being generated from your alternator. Are you sure the alternator you put on was good?
  7. Sounds like a regulator problem to me but I dont know where the it is on these cars. When you bumped the car and it was running what voltage did you have on the battery?
  8. Got under the car to do this today but the daarn thing woudn't budge, I undid the hex bolt holding it in place but then it would only twist round it wouldn't pull out. Would it just be the 'O' ring holding it in tight or is there something else I have to do to remove it?
  9. Just had this poblem on mine, I put a crank case breather filter from Halfords on the outlet pipe but I dont remember seeing that wire in there, dont think thats normal. Might be an idea to take off the main intake pipe mate as mine had spewed oily gunk into it and also into the throttle body, they both needed a good clean up.
  10. I was goinng to replace my crank shaft sensor today but looking at where it is looks like its a pain in the backside to get to. I can see the two connectors for the crank and knock sensors but they lead to the front of the block and the sensors cant actually be seen looking from the top and theres a two pipes down below for the air con i'm guessing. What is the method for removing the sensors? Do you have to strip the whole front end of the car off to get to them?
  11. Where is the Crank sensor located? I only ask as my VR takes quite a few turns before it will start up!
  12. LOL I was goin to say, he blew your original one up so had to replace it quick sharpish! lol
  13. Thanks, what about the throttle cable, will that need setting up again if I take it off?
  14. O.K. so today I took the inlet pipe off and moddified it not to take the oil breather as the bottom pipe on the old breather pipe had split and was allowing air into the inlet. When I had A look I noticed there was quite alot of oily gunk inside the inlet so I checked the throttle body and that was the same. My question is this, How easy is it to remove the Throttle body and what is the best way to clean it? I cleaned around the throttle body as best I could but I'm afraid theres a load more crap in there that I cannot get to!
  15. Fan motor definately needs replacing if its making that kind of noise. Dont know what there like to remove as i've never had to do it on mine but I know you can strip the whole front of the car away without doing anything with the engine. Someone in the no will be along shortly i'm sure.
  16. A clay bar only removes the dirt from scratch's, stopping them standing out as much. As has been said, to remove the scratch completely you need a very good polish or machine polish depending how bad they are or as in my case a full re-spray! lol
  17. LOL sorry I didnt mean I got rid of the car because of them, I just made the decision to get a VW again so sold it soon afterwards.
  18. Think there may be a slight bug in the system as the search bar at the top of the forum is all over the place for me!
  19. Crikey, what happend? did he loose the backend, cant really see from the vids.
  20. I had some Jamex coilies on my E46 Beemer. They were good for all of the 4 weeks I owned the car after fitting them!
  21. LOL they are a bit blury, Car looks nice though!
