  1. me VS Evo Fq400 http://s278.photobucket.com/albums/kk84/davidsonley1/?action=view&current=LiamD1.mp4 don't think i did too badly?
  2. further results checking shows i won class 3 on sunday, forgot to get my award. what a cock
  3. wow just checked the results and on saturday i managed to get runner up in class 3 in the 0-60 section and 1/4 mile winner was Zahed Mahsood if he's on here. did the runners up get an award? haha
  4. i thoroughly enjoyed my weekend, spent a bit much on the sprinting but got a new 0-60pb of 6.14. Had some good scalps on the 1/4 mile considering it's nothing special. camping was ace fun. sorry if we upset any of you guys cos we were a little loud at early hours... but hey we do this to let our hair down i guess got a cheeky pic first thing saturday morning i'm slightly in love with Nat's VR. worthy winner, looked so clean.
  5. i'm setting off now, camping all weekend. come say hi or i may pop over absolutely bladdered if you are camping.
  6. so... my car is actually for sale but it's sorta one of those ones where it's not really gonna go unless i get exactly what i want for it... anyway i decided to get a bit into the cleaning malarky, something to do on these summer days isn't it! i was trying to get it ready for a club stand at a 'chav' show this weekend, this is after a quick polish and removal of side skirts at the show today you can see the worst of the rust here some crappy iphone pics so yeah if it sells i'll be back in a corrado, if not, major interior tidy! carpet going back in the front i think, and some carbon f
  7. RR figures are so easily manipulated, I'd take them with a pinch of salt. I'd rather have a car that drives well than produces big numbers to sound good when you're down the pub.
  8. I've been shown how to use Megasquirt, considering how complex it is when you first look at it, you kinda think "ohhhhhhh crap", but once you make sense of the numbers and figures and understand what you are aiming for it's straightforward enough. It's something I know I'll enjoy. I suck at mechanical things, but electrics and things like that I can get my head around.
  9. Am I clutching at straws hoping a genuine coilpack may be cheaper from a Ford dealership? haha. It's more or less a temporary fix to keep it perfect for the Summer use before I pull it off the road in October so I don't want to spend lots. Also, Kev, is it just the DTA ECU that lets you run any coilpack, or can most standalone ECU's run the coilpack of your choice? At the moment I'm probably going to go Megasquirt because the knowledge base around here for it is good, all my friends use it so help is always at hand. I'm currently finding learning how to map cars is quite interesting!
  10. ACR (Andy Climax Racing) near Croft racing circuit look after my car. VAG specialists, and there's not many people up here I would trust with my car. The quality of the work and attention to detail is far superior to most garages I've seen.
  11. I'm sick of the stock crappy coilpacks and what seem to be very temperamental HT leads, even when buying quality ones. What options are open to me if I want to run an uprated ignition system? Ideally when I go FI I'd like to run some sort of MSD ignition system but what can I do for the time being?
  12. just been talking with a friend tonight who runs these turbos on his BMW's. They come very highly recommended, his BMW has been running for a year now I think on the turbo without any trouble and he says buying from the USA gets them even cheaper. A few drift cars here are using them with good results too 1500 quid garret VS 450 quid Holset. Think my money is going on the Holset...
  13. I just robbed one off of a VW Sharan in scrappy for 45 quid, perfect condition. I still have a misfire but it's not as bad as it was, this is gonna take some solving... it's fine under load but idling and very low rpm it misfires?
  14. they reckon the HX40 is good for 700bhp and 3 bar of boost. my dad's engine builder fitted a GT50/55 sized turbo to his Cortina and that is HUGE. I struggle to see how you would fit something of that size in the VR6 bay!
  15. Pretty sure Mr Horrocks got a Mk2 VR N/A into the 13s so the potential is there I've found with drag racing it's all about practice, keep working on finding the best launch, tweak the tyre pressures and you can run good times. Personally this is how I do it - Drop front tyre pressure to 22psi Engine and oil at usual road temps, some people say run it a little cooler but I don't understand why. IF I do a burnout... Sit the cars front wheels into the burnout pads (this is easier at York), then put into 2nd gear and rev to about 5.5k before dropping the clutch and pulling up the handbrake, with a
  16. i have exactly the same problem now, and have had similar before, it was the coilpack. I've sorted another one to buy on Thursday and try out then I think I may try an 034 motorsport coilpack if they work, as VW ones seem crap!
  17. cheers mate don't happen to have a build thread around for your car do you? VRT daily sounds very interesting
  18. I may now have the ultimate racing excuse, so when that Ferrari Enzo blows by me, I can claim I would've had him if I didn't have a misfire, but driving the car is a pain in the arse, anyway... Basically my troubles started after having a bit of a play with my friends Ibiza Cupra the other day - for a 210bhp rr'd Cupra, my VR blitzed it, but I hit a big bump in the road and my car hasn't ran right since. Firstly it started sounding like it wasn't firing on all cylinders when idling, and then when pulling away at low rpm it wouldn't run on all cylinders, but it was fine under load. Then today (
  19. one very VERY important thing is make sure when using an Eaton that the belts are perfectly aligned. doing this by eye is not good enough, a lot of people use laser alignment... as it needs to be perfect. this is where mine went wrong, combined with poor belt tension (this was on a Polo G40 mind)
  20. on the right application they are very good personal opinion, but i just think a VR6 is the wrong application. sometimes, different is not always better good luck if you do it though, variety is the spice of life apparently!
  21. i have quite a bit of experience with Eatons and it's not a conversion I would do tbh. Eatons suffer badly from heatsoak, in the VR6 bay you are going have big problems with this! One of the more conventional supercharger set ups would be way more efficient. With bolt on kits going second hand for around the 2k mark that's where my money would go if I wanted to go supercharged..
  22. mine seems fairly accurate, if a "notch" on the fuel tank is a gallon then it definitely is there or thereabouts. I've seen anywhere from 200-300 miles to tank, like any car it's totally dependant on your driving style. OBD2's seem a bit more efficient mind. MPG on Scooby's seems quite horrific, but I still absolutely love them! Quite surprised you'd chop one in for a VR, if I didn't have my heart set on building a VRT I'd swap mine for a nice classic Scooby, it's cheaper to insure one of them than my VR.
  23. you should get a stock car into low 15s even on crap tyres. it takes lots and lots of practice to perfect the launch. I'm down to a fraction off a 2.1 60ft (even sure I managed one just can't find the slip) on just pov spec Toyo T1's. your 60ft time is absolutely crucial to running anywhere near the car's potential
