    I thought a coil pack was a transformer full of copper coils, but i'm not sure. My understanding was it was a step up transformer. 12v - 20kv. As it is designed to operate at this parameter if you increase the input, the output will also increase untill it reaches it's threshhold and not increase any more due to losses. As you increase voltage you'll increase resistance and heat, and lower current. Not sure how long it would last if you did this.

    Sounds obvious, but oil and filter changes are paramount. At work we use very large high performance engines and we test the oil to see when it requires changing. Poor air filters and loaded oil along with cold starting is where all the wear happens in your engine. Turbo wear happens for the reasons Tony mentioned and people ragging them red hot and switching their engine off. No oil circulation and heat soak plays havoc with longevity. The most problematic car i've ever owned was one that I bought new.

    Bodywork and paint costs alot more than any mechanicals including the engine. Everything that is perishable is more age related ie hoses and seals. A well maintained high miler in daily use with a wealth of new parts will represent better economy than a low miler that has been sat around unused. Overall condition of the car and a carefull once over by someone from the club who knows the cars well and their pitfulls will stand you in good stead.

    Second only to getting premium membership for £5 less. I got my wheel alignment done today after letting my suspension settle. Car feels more planted and turns in and grips so much better. Not sure what some bits on the printout means though. Is there a guide with the best settings? Ride height was measured all round and was mm perfect. Not bad for doing it with a tape measure.

    With the exhaust, decat and air filter done it will make sense to run it tuned until enough money to go for the next stage. Not enough money yet to go FI, but it's coming.

    With only the decat pipe left to do at this stage of development, i'm now looking to get my car remapped. I've used Dream Science for my last non vag car to great effect. But who do I get to remap my 4mo? Any idea's of what to expect?

    The Haldex filter is a nightmare to get to without the proper tool and not that easy with it. £20 from GSF.
