  1. cool, well hopefully it is just dirt then as the sensor was brand new last year. Looks like i'll be outside in the cold and snow on boxing day then trying to sort it cheers for the help and guidance
  2. yeah it is like the ABS is kicking in but has no need to at all, your answer is pretty much what i thought as i always thought it was a fault with it but didnt know where, then we had the issue with the snow which just baffled me even more to be honest! when it goes off in traffic i cant put the brake down anymore, basically have to pump it to trick it into thinking it is all ok. Whats the best way for me to fix it, is it worth me jsut taking it back to the garage that fitted the sensor and telling themn to sort it out as a year down the line it is having serious problems or are there any qui
  3. this is the problem i have, it is the same grinding noise, it basically cuts the brakes off when braking under normal circumstances. is it maybe just not related at all?
  4. did yours do it whilst in the dry, in traffic, under braking? it does it when the NSF wheel is spinning too though, however the noise only comes from the OSF. really dont want to have to take it to a garage as it would seem a problem that would be hard to notice whilst in a garage as it is intermittent.
  5. i haev not been able to figure this one out at all, was convinced it was an ABS fault, but now feel that may be a seperate issue. Basicall, when in slow moving traffic my OSF brake stops working, its like the ABS is kicking in for no reason, but it only does this in traffic or when going very slow. NOw it gets weird, driving in the snow, not braking at all, just when the wheel spins it does the same noise, a horrific grinding noise, but only from the OSF wheel area. could it be a screwed CV joint?? and maybe the abs fault that i sometime get (the light comes on rarely and the sensor was only r
  6. i had 17's on my mk3 gti and didnt notice a big difference when i had them on, i tehn got the VR and ran the BBS 15's for a while and whilst they were getting refirbed i put the 17's on for a couple of days, to me they destroyed the car, the handling felt sluggish and unresponsive. put the 15's back on and it just felt awesome. no harm in just getting 15's or 16'6 (not tried one with 16's on) and spend the etra money on some decent coilovers!! my opinion anyway
  7. my copy is hopefully sat at home waiting for me now, if not the postman will be in trouble!!
  8. that definately sounds the same as what mine is foing. half thinking to just take out the whole ABS unit, getting annoyed with emssing around with sensors all the time. i'll have a look at the sensor distance though and see if it has moved at all.
  9. pre ordered my black ops, its cheaper to buy as a pre order too, cant wait for it!!
  10. what problems have you had with the ABS, is it just the light that has come on, cause i get the light on sometimes but my main issue is that whilst driving along (usually at slower speeds) it feels like the ABS is kicking in for no reason (without even touching the brake pedal) and it then becomes very hard to stop the car - gets a little scary too to be honest!!!
  11. problem with that one is that is pushes each VDO back, may make the visibility a bit hard!
  12. well easy putting them in there, if you want any guidance on it let me know.
  13. put mine where the head unit was, its at the perfect viewing level then! can get pics later though if you want
  14. if its credit hire then it is more than likely you can get courtesy cars like that, the whole bill just goes to the third party at fault and they have no choice but to pay it through their insurance,
  15. doesnt look good that mate, were none of the mods declared on the insurance, the car seems to have all the standard wheels, seats etc. back in it. what you gonna do with the motor now, break it down and sell for parts?
  16. yeah it is OBD2. sensor was a genuine VAD part as far as i know. i've gotta change the break pads ASAP so will see if anythign changes then, if not will no doubt take it to the garage that changed the sensor a year ago! How would the ECU effect the ABS?
  17. my ABS keeps playing up like crazy, 1 year ago the offside front sensor stopped working, had it replaced and worked perfectly after that untill recently, coincidentally just after this years MOT. The light comes on occasionally, i have put it through VAGCOM and it is now showing a faulty offside front sensor, the one that was changed!! the weird thing is that most the time the light is off (the bulb does work as it lights when starting the car) but whilst driving the ABS seems to kick in, a horrible grinding noise occurs and the brakes pretty much dont work (scary). Is this more than possibly
  18. i did mine in a matter of minutes the other night, found a mk3 guide through google, search google for it (i cant remember what i searched on) but it was an easy fix, 1 zip tie later and the window works perfectly!!
  19. changed back to the original temp sender and the dial seems to work correctly now, looks like the temp sender was broken from the Audi, will get a new one though as want to run both the MFA reading and the VDO reading and have the t splitter coming tomorow which wasnt realy the cheapest thing to get with the mad postage involved!!!
  20. i'll give it a shot, right bastard changing them though, fingers crossed that works, will have to invest in another sender if not, if that is the problem of course
  21. got it all done now, the pressure is working fine and i replaced the VW temp sender for the Audi one that the gauges came with but the temp sender just shoots right up and over 170, surely very incorrect, any ideas why it would be doing this?!?
