  1. Hi finally getting my VR back to a road worthy condition and my last task now before i can get it off the axle stands is to bleed the brakes. I have replaced the rear callipers and the ABS pum/ECU. do i need VAGCOM to do this or can i bleed it the normal way without my laptop connected?
  2. i wired mine from the cigarette lighter, just ran a split from it
  3. i thought as much, i replaced all other seals but honestly thoght these would be ok. Where is best to get them from as i have struggled to find them , or are VW the best?
  4. Hi i replaced my thermostat housing at the weekend and it all works good, no leaks except from the yellow sensor plug, the O ring is in good condition and did not leak previously, is it either not plugged in properly (i have taken it back out and pushed it back in again) or are the O rings just no good even though no problem before????
  5. do you have to have VAGCOM to bleed the system or can it all be done with just a brake bleed kit - i ask this as i have replaced rear callipers and ABS pump/ECU and i dont have the full version of VAGCOM to bleed it with
  6. no worries Bungy, just desperate to get the golf back on the road now, looking sad on axle stands for the last 2 months.
  7. Yeah I've got the eBay cable. Where are volkswizard based?
  8. Hi has anyone got full version of VAGCOM in Shirley/Birmingham area that is willing to run the bleed setting on my golf for the ABS pump and brakes. recently changed the Pump and rear callipers and i dont have the full version of VAGCOM for the bleed
  9. you wouldnt be jealous of my walltet situation though! to be fair i love them both, got the VEnto for £250 too and it is in good condition, the engine is absolutely crisp too. it is the perfect stealth car for cheeky races with idiots in BMW's etc. they looked lost when this blue vento just screams ahead, love it
  10. ive got both at the moment and both in VR6 format too, woohoo
  11. remove the plastic covers on the back of the front runners then there is a little securing pin in the middle at the front that needs to come out, then just slide and lift up and that is the fronts out! Rears there are a couple of allen bolts for the bottoms, undo them and the bench is out, for the upper bench there are clips that hold them in and a rotating clip for the outer of them, you can do the whole change in 30 mins max!!
  12. pre ordered my sensation yesterday, awaiting delevery on the 19th, woohooo
  13. nope i have not bled the brakes, it didnt lose too much fluid but it obviously lost enough to casuse an issue. I have a pressure bleeder at my parents so i know what my job is today then, VAGCOM can apperently bleed the pump too?!?!? Cant get my VAGCOM to work properly at the moment though. I'll bleed all the brakes today then and see how much that helps. Is there a order in which to do them,if so what?
  14. Just changed my ABS pump to a new one that works and topped the brake fluid up after, everything looks fine, when i pump the brakes when the engine is off there is pressure there but as soon as the engine is running i have no brakes, brake pedal near enough drops to the floor with the lightest touch on it. What have i done wrong and how do i get some brakes back?????
  15. 6 months time changes alot! Simply youwont get an iphone 5 on £35/month for free, it will cost you at least £100 up front!! As my previous post the HTC Sensation is the one to go for.
  16. wait another month and get the HTC Sensation, their new flagship model. Early reports are having it trounce all over anthything else and the only phone that is level with it is teh Galaxy S2 which is not due for a few more months! i've pre-ordered mine! The original Desire still leads from the Iphone 4 in most tech reports as the best phone on the market, now that says something about a phone that is 1 year old over the newer Iphone4. Desire S isnt worth it as it is just the refreshed Desire, nothing really new on it and not dual core. Wait a month and get the Sensation
  17. i'll check them out and see what osrt of price they do them for, cheers for the memory recovery with the name
  18. changing the rear callipers on my 96 VR at the weekend and just wandering what price you would expect to pay for them. Just getting some from the local scrapyard (Sanburn Autos in coventry) and they have given a price of £50 for both. Not sure how much they are new from GSF with club discount - i hate their website witha passion
  19. got the pump and ecu today and just fitted, guess what, the abs light remains on!!!!! VAGCOM is going on now to see what the hell is going on. Maybe the scrappy were right and you just cant add another replacement ecu, good job i have the pump too though as may have to fit at the weekend!! grrrrrrrr
  20. yeah thought that may be the case! Managed to find a EBS pump and ECU on the bay for £35 with a 4 month guarantee, so gone for that with high hopes of it solving this problem. Turns out if you search for the pump part number it brings up alot more available
  21. right then turns out i cant get hold of another ECU at all, seems rare as anything the one that i want. How easy/hard is it to remove the ABS altogether and put in a brake bias, do i need to inform DVLA or anything like that so that is is registered as having no ABS??
  22. yeah thought they did, was having a debate with my dad about it. we cant work out if my rear callipers are shot or not and wanted to make sure we prepared for any ABS problems when changing it all. cheers
  23. no worries cheers for the offer though on a random note do all vr6's with abs have sensors on all wheels, got to change the discs and pads and want to make sure i prepare myself everything
