After cleaning the injectors the car ran loads better by I was still not confident that they were delivering equal fuel supply to each cylinder. With a planned switch to E85 to take advantage of its cooling properties we installed these 225lbs (2360cc) Billet Atomizer injectors With plans to visit SantaPod we fitted these 245/40/18 M&H race master street radials After a few trips out on the road (sorry [emoji51] no none incriminating videos taken) we had a disaster when the Fluid Dampir crank pulley decided to come off. New bolt made and standard pulley fitted With that fixed we were off to Santapod Then I hit the strip The car needs lots of adjustment and setting up. The first run the car would not rev past the launch rev limiter i set at 4000rpm so a disappointing 16.01 pass was recorded The next pass without the launch on this time the car bogged on the line hard but flew for the second half to net another disappointing 15.89 Given that the car should be more than capable of 10 second quarters I was a bit gutted. That feeling only grew as I drove back to the pits after the second run and started to hear the faint and ever growing sound of rod knock After pulling the head and being able to push piston no 5 down I knew it was definitely goosed. Time for a rebuild
  2. Hi all, I have been a member on here now for over 8 years now. I have learned lots from different members on here, from my first supercharger build to my last turbo build this site has been an invaluable source of information. My intention has always been to write a build thread to help inspire others as I have been inspired from reading many build threads on here. Anyway here is my project car. Its a 2000 W reg 2.8 24v 4 motion with 18x8J Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2's With plans for big power in the future I decided to upgrade the seats to save weight and help hold me in on the twisties. Next up was coilovers. This time I decided that I wanted the car to handle as well as look good so I went for Gaz Gold height, damper and rebound adjustable. And now for the turbo parts. JE 8.5:1 .5 oversized pistons Tool steel piston pins Garrett GTX4202R with 1.15 T4 divided (twin scroll) housing and 4" v band discharge Twin Tial MVS wastegates Aeromotive belt dirve fuel pump. Good for 1800bhp on methanol Sp turbo oil filter housing ready to run air/oil cooler and ensures clean oil supply to the turbo Corvette Z06 90mm DBW throttle body against stock vr6 12v item Crank girdle to help hold it all together. The engine is now fully built so I will add the build photo's shortly.

Went out in the car this weekend but was too excited for videos [emoji51]. Car was misfiring and after checking all the coils we came to the conclusion it must be the injectors. After pulling the injectors 2 were totally blocked. Some cleaning fluid and some compressed air from the local Tesco garage and the blockage was clear.

More updates Car is now done On the truck home To say I’m happy with the finish is an understatement. When I picked the colour asked on the fact the Skyline R34 GTR is a dream car of mine I never imagined it would look so good on the golf.

Car is now MOT’d, taxed & insured so fully street legal. Not really practical for pooping to the shops etc... but will be used on the road and the track. Standard inlet? When I turbo’d my first 12v that was the first thing to go. People get into all sorts of debates about runner length but the hubrennersporttechnic that I fitted made more power NA before the turbo was fitted than the original. I would save your self a lot of plumbing and get a cheap Ebay short runner.

Definitely can’t wait to get back on the dyno. Don’t think I will be aiming for maximum power on the next session as I want to have some seat time before I risk it all going for big numbers.

Started assembly today R32 headlights Fuel tank and chargecooler ice box thing mounted Might have to fix the ride height a little. Or maybe it just looks high because of the trolleys Most of the interior back in looks like a car again

I am too. With the 10” wide wheels I have there was no chance but on the 9”s they just sneak in.

Received some more pictures from my painter today. I think the car is looking amazing considering that is straight out of the gun. Can’t wait to see it polished with all the panels back on [emoji3]

I would not worry about main bearing clearance in relation to power. Standard bearings and specs will be fine.

Went to pay Jamie a visit at Unitsixteeenautomotive the other day. First Is the interior stripped. A leaking water fitting on my chargecooler has made the boot floor a little rusty [emoji85]. Happy it is looking a lot different now [emoji3] More updates next week week when the outside gets painted [emoji51]

New track rods More powdercoating New driveshafts from VW Nice to see it all coming together At this point I just wanted to get the car back together and running. So it was a quick clean of the brake calipers and back on. I will probably get these refurbished next winter. Mount made for my Talon switch panel. Total newb at fabrication if you can call it that but good fun anyway. 400bhp NX Express wet kit just in case [emoji23] Car loaded up and on the way to the dyno Car made 555bhp on wastegate springs which is enough to run it in and zero modifications to the standard DRP gearbox. My Dad loves the wood but I think it has to go [emoji85] After lots of thought SQS or DonOctane [emoji848] decided to go for something purpose made and best of all UK made. Time to come apart again Lots and lots of Fing and blinding late the gearbox was out with the engine and transfer box still in position. Entirely possible but definitely yanking the engine next time. New guest has settled in nicely Turbo to charge cooler pipe powder coated after a few little tweaks Had a few issues on the dyno with pipes blowing off and overheating due to air locks so re-introduced an expansion bottle back in the system. Found a local guy to paint the car so decided on House of Kolor ‘Jet set back’ and lots of clear and colour sanding. Seen it on the tv a bunch so fancy myself a nice paint job. On area I’ve never paid a lot of attention to.

Ok, as promised a long overdue update. Chargecooler painted and installed 30L fuel tank with duel -10 AN outlets. Planning on having 1 feed for electric pump to prime system and 1 clear run to feed the mechanical pump. Fuel & Ice tank mounted New 18x9j pro race 1.2’s that I won for a steal on Ebay, 265’s now on with no need for horrible flares. Dash offered up, needs mounting but can’t be bothered making mounts so it will be coming back out for the time being. Powercoated hubs with new VW bearings
