soo i've found the bits on ebay but how does it wire up? is all the wiring already in place and just plug and play?
-
yeah might try that again tomorrow, had it idling like that for about an hour this morn.

how do i do that? changed the themostat housing and all the other plastic pipes/seals there including thermostat, replaced coolant but now when i switch off the engine i can hear water gargling? it sounds like it's comming from the heather matrix/throttle body pipes so suspect an air lock. i've driven it for a few miles and it's stayed bang on 90 degrees, fan is cutting in and out lovely and the heater is working fine. any ideas?

i bought the ngk twin electrode platenium ones, the oe fit ones, from southern exhausts, cost about £40 iirc but normal prices for vr6 plugs are about £50-60 mark for the oe type.

Standard Handling - Tracking and Camber
james4287 replied to Knightrider's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
my vr has been a bit ropey on the turn in ever since i've had it, i checked the tracking myself today and has 1degree toe in one side and 1degree toe out on the other. so i've set it to approx 20minutes toe out on both sides and it does feel much better. one thing i'm not sure about though, when i fitted the things to the front wheels (supertracker) both rear gauges read the same, 3 on each. once adjusted i had 2.5 on one and 1.5 on the other. whys that and does it matter? tracking confuses me! -

OBD2 AAA stalling when cold, then running on five?
james4287 replied to james4287's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
mass air flow senser and 02 codes are still present. 00553 & 00552 i've checked the wiring beteen both sensers and ecu - resistance within spec, and checked for battery voltage when cranking on both sensers, again ok. think i'm going to sit on the fence and wait for the fault to be present at all times which will hopfully make it easier to trace. -
OBD2 AAA stalling when cold, then running on five?
james4287 replied to james4287's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
if you look over the back of the egine, down on the chassis under the brake fluid theres 2 multi-plugs, the white one is knock sensor and the black one is the 02 sensor, follow the wire down and it leads to a sensor on the exhaust. just to update further, 00525 was still present this weekend, but have now fitted a new mass air flow so we shall see what happens next, idle speed is ever so slightly smoother and more consistant now though. -

what oil is your vr6 running on? i'm now using 5w/40 with no probs, that said i haven't started it and revved the nuts off it as thats just silly, but now when i get out my car space onto the main road i can put my foot down without it stalling over 3.5krpm. However, plugged mine back into vagcom today and have; 00553 - mass air flow senser 00525 - 02 senser. now since i cleared the codes the other day, it had to the best of my knowledge been running faultlessly. did 200 miles yesterday and didn't miss a beat. sooo see how cheap i can get a mass air flow senser now.... -
ok i seem to have sorted it!

"no responce from controller" where am i going wrong now!?

OBD2 AAA stalling when cold, then running on five?
james4287 replied to james4287's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
Random thought, had the use of a vr6 sharan this week, did the exact same thing and came up with a mass air flow senser code, frustratingly the customer didn't want the senser replaced and said he would live with it. but was the mass air flow the cause of the fualt we're all having ! ? -

OBD2 AAA stalling when cold, then running on five?
james4287 replied to james4287's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
maybe a swap to 5w/30 is an option worth trying out! since i refitted the airbox and reset the ecu things have been marginaly better. until this week where i notice very lumpy idle when hot, i'm still suspicious about MAF but it's not bad enough to warrent changing as of yet. -
sounds about normal to me?

OBD2 AAA stalling when cold, then running on five?
james4287 replied to james4287's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
UPDATE: fitted original air box and reset pcm, it's been a week now and idling hot & cold is fine, mpg has increased. the 3krpm problem has got better as in now it's 4krpm and it'll hesitate and drop to five but not stall. -
no thats quite a good price, didn't know they were that cheap from vw!

did we find a definative answer to this then?
