  1. yes, 109 relay is a firm favorite. pull off the cover off the relay and clean the terminals inside. 9 times out of ten this works, but they're about £20 iirc.
  2. ooooooooook may have to look under the bonnet a bit further now then. have also noticed missfire/bad idling when hot aswell. very slight as in you can only hear it and feel a slight vibration through the steering wheel/gearstick. when driving it's un-noticable. only when you open the bonnet and rest your hand on the engine between the inlet and the front pannel you can feel the engine moving. where as usually it's almost totally still. don't suppose anyone could confirm how they're vr6 is when stone cold and hot [fans cutting in]? - does the engine remain almost totally still with your hand re
  3. i only have two sensers as far as i'm aware, ecu and fan. i've replaced the 2 pin blue sensor of the ecu as far as i know!
  4. i've tried it on a snap-on code reader more than once which produces no codes. but i think i will buy another lead and try vag-com. or send it to vw with a blank cheque! haha!!
  5. mine has a K&N on a obd2, for the lengthy list of problems i'm having with mine see my other thread in this forum! the thought of trying a standard airbox has crossed my mind aswell, though so many poeple on here seem to have no troubles.
  6. note: very bad this morning, suspect due to very cold ambiant temps today. sounded like it was running on four cylinders at idle, sounded ok at 1500 revs, but dropped down to idle it was on 4 cylnders, then five then six, after about 15 seconds it was fine. power was perfectly fine, though hesistation at approx 5krpm when cold still persists. changed the coolant temp sensor yesterday aswell, hence why i "tested" this morning, alas no different. also something else ive noticed is maybe a very slight missfire? when cold, i.e. if i place my hand between the front pannel and the inlet mannifold, w
  7. incidently on mine there was a wiring loom bracket directly above the coolant sensor meaning the circlip couldn't fully come out, 10mm spanner required!
  8. no power? overfuelling? i know how the diesels respond to a faulty maf is it the same with the vr?
  9. can i ask what symtons you were having with your car?
  10. do you have a K&N? i'm wondering if this is effecting maf readings when cold which is causing the over-fuelling? i will try original air box when i get a minute. i've also replaced the plugs this week and am running it on optimax. alas, still the same. another thought, i have a intermittantly dicky ignition switch? do you?
  11. http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?185177 read that, is thats what happening?
  12. Today i've replaced the ht leads with genuine vw ones, and checked the plugs, i have NGKR BKR5EKUP plugs which look normal and the same grey colour accross all six, i've checked all the electrical connectors under the bonnet, for corrosion, all spotless and secure. removed both cam and crank sensors and cleaned the ends, though to be fair they were spotless. checked continuity of heater circuit of the hego sensor and although i didn't check resistance, i did have continuinty accross the senser so am assuming the heater circuit hasn't failed. just to recap: new leads, coil pack, 65k miles, 10w/
  13. keep us posted, i have the exact same trouble with a usb lead from ebay.
  14. just for the sake of this thread, can you post info of your car; last serviced, service history, oil grade, mileage, parts changed etc.
  15. does it sound like this: http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?185177
  16. so it was just leads yeah? and that meant you only had problems when cold?
  17. on mine the problem was the dash mounted speakers, if you pull off the top cover, and pull out the tweeter and shake it. On mine the actualy tweeter was rattling in the mount, blob of super glue and all sorted. and yes, i did take all the clocks out to find out it was just that! haha!
  18. anyone bought a vag-com usb lead from ebay and it actually works? if so can you post the sellers name as i want one, but would rather get one on a reccomendation that it does work as the last one i bought didn't and the seller wasn't interested. I would go serial, but my laptop doesn't have a serial plug. many thanks,
  19. when i priced up a coil-pack vw were £80 cheaper than ford!
