    anyone know what the deal is with a 6 speed box on a VR6 - i just stumbled accross it on the stealth page http://www.stealthracing.co.uk/conversions.php and wonderedwhat sort of price youd be looking at for what sort of benefit? B.

    would it be worth just fitting the cams - whats the diff between 264's and 268's in terms of output? also ive been warned that having steeper profile cams makes the engine sound rough is this true or just crap?

    cant on that day dude - got to cover some article for my other passion - shooting photos, in this case for www.leftlion.co.uk their print version. the reason i was asking really was because i reckon i could swing a centre page article if i could get a notts meet somewhere. cheers B.

    no. its to do with the VR6 block weight. kits come in upto gti16V then seperate TDi / VR6. sorry to be the bearer of bad news, i had the same probs when upgrading from my 1.8. cheers. b.

    did you fit it yourself? is it just a ballast/bulb setup thats a universal fit as its down to the bulb fitment or do you have to redo the loom on the back of the headlight - the reason im asking is that i have mk4 headlights on my Vr but they look like a nice conversion for reasonable cash.

    is this a comp. that runs diagnostics on your performance and give you a print out of whats wrong? or does it also make it possible to optimise performance via the vag com? sorry if this is a silly Q. but its something i got told about earlier and thought id put the Q to anyone in the know! B.

    right, ive bought a set of lanzar components that were 'direct' fit to my car got the stock card speakers out the doors fitted the bigger ones and the grilles no longer fit over the speaker anyone had this / know what to do apart from cut all the lugs off the grilles and just stick them back on?? also, does the cross over have to sit in the door panel or can they be put elsewhere?? cheers B.

    all depends on how much arm ache your looking for! theres a thread with loadsa links up for polishing the manifold in the 'detailing' forum at the bottom - have a look its real good. B.

    would the cams and a ported inlet make it noticably quicker off the mark? as im happy with the magic 3rd gear and 2nd for that matter! but its just the off the mark that seems to let me down.

    everybody's saying loadsa work but ive got mine shiny but not fully mirror polished and did it in about 40 mins / 1 hr without even intending to! im a heating engineer and was cleaning out the boot of my car and found a small length of 'cleaning strip' that you scrub up copper pipe with before you solder it so outta curiosity i had a scrub with the heavy gauge strip to see what itd look like a bit cleaner as it was a bit grubby after about 20 mins scrubing it was spotless but looked carbonised, i then found a much lighter gauge 'cleaning pad' for the same purpose as above mentioned this afte

    how much of a job is it to fit a 6 branch - still undecided whether to buy one of not. i know a grease monkey who does a lotta jobs for me but theyve all been pretty basic jobs like servicing and brake pads / dropping my old golf etc. just wondering if its a right bitch to fit one??

    heres my current setup mk4 lights and some german fog strip/ indicator. im umming and aahring to get eyelids and a 2 slot de-badge grille but not too sure, anyone got any pics of a similar setup. just fancy a preview! cheers B.

    if its a factory fitted one like my conlog then it has a dip switch where you stick the fob - thats in the glove box - should work as a last resort to get it running. if thats not having any of it its looking like its fucked

    anyone know how to convert from PCD 5x 100 to 5x 112. got told the converters are like £160 but im sure some knowlegeable dubbers can point me in the right direction to some that arent silly money?? cheers B.

    get some pics up! im V. interested in how they come out - i was gonna get them machine done by someone but DIY is sounding pretty good since i had a £700 gas bill drop through my letter box this morn!
