  1. this is a mkiv ally sump, is this the same as an r32 one? cant see an oil return so perhaps not... i wouldnt say my car is slammed, my wishbones are level, perhaps in a mk2 the vr6 engine just sits lower? personally i would rather have steel sump over an ally sump, personally choice, just like some people would rather have a supercharger over a turbocharger.
  2. wouldn't exactly call it baffled...and its ally, dont want to risk my bottom end with an ally sump, have anough trouble cathcing with the steel one
  3. any links? been searchin vortex all night and cant find anything... cheers
  4. i have a similar problem with my car at the moment, it started doing it when weight was transferred to the corner the vibration was coming from, but gradually started doing in a straight line now. Im going to swap the cv joint first at the weekend to see if this fixes it, its easier to change a cv than it is a wheel bearing.
  5. Must be a good reason why high powered 20vt owners change their valves from 2piece to 1piece? and i doubt its becuase they're s##t!
  6. ah yes, the 038 prefix works rather than the 021, cheers!
  7. Has any one had problems getting hold of the oil cooler seals recently from VW? One is discontinued and the other has been superseeded or replaced with a ford item, part numbers i have are 021 117 070 & 021 117 070A,
  8. just found this thread! i've also been given 2 thrust washers by vw instead of the 4 that came out of the engine, nice to know it is correct! lol
  9. just searching on the site and found this regarding the thrust washers! http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?131953.post another good thread to have found!
  10. Good thread this. I had a similar problem trying to get parts from vw, the two part numbers listed there is what i've now been given. However, im a bit concearned about the thrust washers. When i took the engine apart there were 4 thrust washers and i've only been given two new ones and they are different, I'll try get some pics,
  11. friend has them on her mk3 vr6, needed 7mm spacers between the hub and caliper carrier if i remember correctly, apart from that bolted straight on,
  12. the black plastic rocker cover will be slightly quieter than the metal one
  13. the parts you need for the conversion: ecu transponder box & key loom inlet manifold throttle body maf sensor lambda sensor and the plastic pipe that goes between the throttle body and maf sensor i think thats all...
  14. i just converted mine from obd1 to obd2, i gained 9bhp & 26lbft, not only that, i have also gained better mpg, and hasn't stalled since, not to mention now uses a much better maf sensor
  15. was at stealth today for a rolling road a friend organised 196 bhp @ 5173 214 lbft @ 4136 2.9 ABV converted to OBD2 BMC air filter 2.5" exhaust system with no cat
  16. what 60ft, 330ft, 1/8 times and 1/8 speed did you get?
  17. 14.6 in my n/a vr6, 2.9, BMC and 2.5" exhaust, no cat missed the pm bit too, sorry! edit: 60ft 2.224sec 330ft 6.086sec 1/8 9.377sec @ 74.77mph 1/4 14.674sec @ 91.84mph
  18. recently converted my 2.9 obd1 to obd2, car was running fine and strong before the conversion, and car runs fine now and still strong up until 5k, when it sounds like my old 8v on tb's then at 6k it feels like its hitting a rev limiter but its not as the revs do rise still slowly (5k-6k are still strong just the sound is totally different) anyone have any ideas what it could be or experienced similar problem? i think perhaps its missing when it gets up the top end, i did at the same time fit brand new leads from vw, the coilpack i suspect is ok as saw near 7k on the superchipped obd1 ecu plugs
  19. i think you'll have more than 11bhp transmission loss, what engine is it? 2.8 obd1/obd2 or 2.9 obd1?
  20. good point! should be anytime now, i'll phone up tomorrow and chase them, send me a text to remind me!
  21. are you talking 2.8 obd1 or 2.9? 2.8 obd1 has 174bhp 2.9 obd1 has 190bhp 2.8 obd2 has ???bhp correct me if im wrong but i dont think vw ever quoted for 2.8 obd2 but they usually put out 190ish?
  22. i had a go against an r32 in my mk2 vr, cant say about off the line, but i would think the r32 would have it easily, but rolling he had to pull aside to let me past...
