i had some chopper tell me both my rear wheel bearings were gone when i had a tyre swap done, just aswell i had a little knowledge as the rear bearings are tapered where an amount of "play" is acceptable to have in them, if your changing them get vw ones they are better quality. if your rear discs are needing doing soon? do em at the same time or it will cost you twice!

cheers for that, i am just getting all jitery about buying the zw1`s as i am worried about fouling on the arches, dont know wether to just get bbs rx`s instead as they are 7.5 and i know they will clear, but i really like the rh alloys!!!! arghhhh, decisions! could be an expensive mistake if it goes wonky!! not too sure about running the 205`s with the stretch? :@ does it affect handling? i only want to buy once! without modding arches etc, i dont intend to go really low, so in theory 50mm would give a nice stance and i should??? be ok, thanks to everyone who has chipped in on this, all wil

HELP PLEASE COMPARDRES - DO I REPAIR THE RUST OR NOT?
purple highline monster replied to jaysVR6's topic in General Chat
get it repaired, your lucky its only minor, have you seen the rust protection on the new golfs? or lack of it!! they dont even paint the underside floor pan or fill them with wax anymore! weight saving apparantly! for 24 k i want a bit of protection! although they dont say vw have done the minimum to get the car to its 6 year body warranty and thats it! hope that means i wont get a rusty mk5 when its ten years old -
Nice one! that solves that then, you will have it back in time for tea and medals!! see silver lined clouds are great

Cheers for the pic looks like that tyres come into contact with the arch a few times!!!, i have been looking at the arches and with 205x50 15`s on standard suspension there is loads of room, like you say i can juggle with the settings on coilovers and get a good balance of look to clearance! trial and error but i am definately getting those rims even if i have to compromise on the height a little it will still handle well enough.

sometimes lifes like that mate! i remember just getting my lhasa green mark 1 totally spotless and some twat in a 2 ton landrover hit me up the arse in traffic! "my foot slipped off the brake mate" more like "you smell of piss and cabbage and shouldnt be on the road" came the reply!!! stick with it if you like the car :? it will be your pride and joy in 3 weeks time!

If you buy it back its a cheap car but it will be on the "hitlist" as a total loss &| , it will still be a nice car once repaired, but resale value will be a bit iffy ~ but if your gonna keep it and drive it like you nicked it then who cares! 8o) Just get a second hand tailgate in same colour if you can and a second hand bumper, they will be cheap, just pay for any body damage to be done properly and you should have a few quid left for some modding! !lol

doh!!! thought you were getting rid of the wheels!!! no probs i am in the process of aquiring mine at the minute, dunno how much they will be? but they are a lot cheaper than they used to be! especially if they come from germany direct! i will put new tyres on when i get them so will decide on size then.

its not too horendous then! if its only a bit then i wouldnt be too bothered and coulod live with it!, my highline obviously dosnt have the extra arches so maybe it would have a little more clearance? i dont want the car in the weeds anyway just a nice stance and not be able to park another vr under the front arches! like you can at the minute! i will pm you to discuss poss having your rims?
