    hi all,just got back from a short journey (1 mile) dual carraigeway road,so put my foot down a couple of times.got to a roundabout and an acryd burning smell( kind of chemical burning smell )appeared, and i'm sure i saw smoke behind the car when i looked in the mirror ,but the smell was definately in the cabin aswell . (my heater matrix is knackered and there is leaked coolant sloshing around but i dont think its anything to do with that) any ideas? cheers &|

    syncro is 4x4 and pretty hard to come by ,(think they are all left hand drive) :?

    ok my turn: owned the car 4 months,2nd day new thermostat housing,then starter motor,ignition,battery,catalytic converter,cooling fan relay,timing chains,air mass meter,air filter, tune up,two lots of sparkplugs,de denting 6 panels @

    thx again guys,looks like i'll do the connecting option at the moment ,then replace the matrix when i change the interior,dont want to remove the center consol and dash twice!

    cheers guys,is it a fairly safe bet that the heating matrex is knackered ? is there any way of testing it?

    will i need to drain the cooling system prior to joining the pipes? as i presume air in the pipes would be a bad thing? still learning

    so all those 2 fat pipes that go through do is control the heater?

    mmm... that was my thinking aswell clarkie,got a feelin that means removing steering wheel,center consol and dashboard! to get to it.

    hi all,just as i was setting off to the gti festival all my coolant was dumped over my girlfrinds feet in the passenger footwell as i went round a corner.the coolant seems to have leaked out behind the dashboard but before the engine bay.i'm going through a reservour of coolant every 1/2 mile! is it likely that just a hose has come loose or perished in there? the car runs absolutely fine. any ideas? thx

    tell me about it ,i got a spair set of trims from the breakers and the bloke snapped off the clips when he took them off,where can i get replacements?

    yep put me down please, motor should look a bit neater by then as i've got 'mo' the (genius) dent man round this week,all six side panels to do project progressing slowwwly !shy p.s. the mudflaps are already in the bin!
