  1. would a dodgy coilpack show up on a vag com? as its been on and come back faultless
  2. yep thats where the pump is,also had all the pipes cleaned from the fuel pump.the problem is only occuring on very short journeys,if i go a decent length theres no problem, is it possible that it is over fuelling? i have a fuel cut off switch on my dash, if i turn the fuel off then switch it back on during the cranking it starts after a while. obviousely this is a pain in the arse as i want to remove the fuel switch (fuel switch plugs in on top of the fuel pump they have just put a reroute in) so easily disengaged
  3. yep its cranking over,and making all the right sounds but just isnt catching (new spark plugs, new battery) i tried the water spray test on the coilpack and couldnt see any arcing.
  4. hey all, heres a puzzler:my vr starts but not very crisply, if i drive it for a bout 1/4 mile then stop,buy fags or whatever,it then wont start it turns over but wont catch.i have a new battery, any thoughts??

  8. yeah sanks is right,my thermostat housing went and there was only the tinyest drip coming from it but enough to drain the reservior dry in a day! the housing is at the bottom of the engine at the front,about 4" square,good luck. oh if it is it will cost about

  11. i reckon ive done about 50-1oo miles, so not that far,it was just worrying as it didnt start straight away

  13. hi all, yrt another problem with my vr6! i think it might be cursed. i have a rotten eggs smell coming from somewhere, i had a new cat put on about 3 weeks ago and the smell has just started today. i seem to remember from somewhere the smell is linked to the cat but i coulb be wrong, please help cheers

  15. hi all, has anyone had any experiance of stealth racing,i'm gonna have the motor put on a rolling road and possibly have the ecu re-written,i have the option of going local to a non specific tuner, or flying up to stealth(about 2 hours away) so not to far away and have them do it, what do y'all think?

  18. i havnt a clue it is exactly as i bought it ,apparantly its on its medium setting, i dont know if that means medium height or medium firmness, am a newb at this lol
  19. IT MIGHT JUST BE THAT THE INCREASDE AIR FLOW INTIO THE ENGINE WANTS TO PULL MORE FUEL IN,COULD BE A SIMPLE JOB OF ADJUSTING THE CARB STTING TO MATCH THE AIR FLOW
  20. I HAVE KONI ADJUSTABLE SUSPENSION AT THE MOMENT,NICE AND LOW BUT I WANT A FIRMER RIDE.WILL I NEED NEW SPRINGS OR IS IT A CASE OF ADJUSTING THE SUSPENSION?
  21. hello all vr6 ers, when i bought my vr6 about 1 month ago i was looking forward to some seriuos fun! little did i know i had taken on a project!!! 1.new thermostat housing 2.new air filter and induction kit 3.new air mass meter 4.new catalytic converter 5.new spark plugs 6.oil change and filter 7.new fuel pump and fuel filter 8.new battery 9.flooding problem, new sensors (£200 labour) 10.vag com and checks (£80 labour) 11.shed loads of petrol having heart stopping fun!!!!!! 12.still to do : new springs,new magnecor leads,trolley dents from careless fuckers at sainsbury's. please tell me this
  22. topic related to above, i have adjustable koni suspension lowered pretty damn low (already done when i bought the car) but the ride is too bouncy and soft for me, looking for that 1960's mini cooper feel real bone cruncher!!!. can they be adjusted to be firmer or is it a shocks thing??
  23. hi all,listed below are all the sympoms of my poorly vr6. 1.lack of performance (especially under 3000revs) 2.eneven /rough idle 3.strong fuel smell when drivers window is open and in boot 4.backfirng when revs drop(slowing down ,between gear changes etc) can all these symptoms be one single knackered part??? i have replaced air filter,mass air flow meter, catalytic converter, thermostat housing and is booked in for new spark plugs and oil change.
