WARNING about clicky CV Joints / UJ's
VRVIRGIN replied to Devilfish's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
Sorry to hear about that Chris , glad your ok though m8. I get a kind of klunk from mine turning the car round, but only if its been stood still for while, doesn't do it all the time but i'm a bit worried now. &| -
!grr Oh dear, not good at all, sorry to hear that matey. &| think i'm gonna get a new water pump and if required a new tensioner (not sure if they come together or not). !dodge Do u guys reckon it's worth getting from GSF rather than the stealers, and could anyone sort me out with some part numbers please. Finally, i can get round to doing something about this noise. Thanx everyone for all your help, much appreciated. Cheers Nel.
-
I will only be able to get a new one, cos VR's are near non existant where i am. But i know a very competent spanner at a great price who could do it for me.
-
Tappets are noisey too, but have been told by VW techie that it isn't a big deal. However, the noise is like a loud schimming? if that makes any sense, from what may be the tensioner. It is very loud as its all you can hear standing away from the car. It appeared after the new chains were put on. I have very little time to get it sorted which is why its been left so long, don't suppose anyone has any idea on labour times do they? Thanx for advice pal and sorry Alun for stealing the thread m8.
-
Mines OBD 1 by the way, but wouldn't have thought that would make much difference. Any ideas on possible cost?
-
M8, i was just about to post the same thread. I too am getting that noise, only i've had for ages with no one able to tell me what it is. It even started to sound like it may be coming from the cams but thats probably my paranoya setting in. Mines really loud though and ruins the noise from the zaust. I take it this should be sorted soon as? &|

Pics of Golf3 wearing RS6 alloys?
VRVIRGIN replied to stuey's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
Got no pics i can show you, but my personal opinion is that they would just look the mutts nutts. They would be my choice had i not shelled out on TT comps. Don't think u can wrong there m8. And you get decently priced replicas too. -
I could go on all day about peoples bull claims about their cars over in this part of the world. Especially once they know i got a VR. !lol !lol !lol

there have been 200bhp uno/punto turbos running around for a while now, but i'm sure he'd need more than just the hybrid to push out that sort of power. As well as three people on the bonnet keep the power from shreading his tyres off

I'd say Supersprint too, sound awswome.

I could be wrong here and not sure if everyones elses car does this, but when i put my foot down the needle dips down without fidgiting with the computer anyway, can this be what you're talking about? I've always found it quite strange, but i'm still learning about the car, so not certain if it's normal on a VR. None of my other cars did it so would be interesting to know. &| -
&| Cheers for tha Nick, knew u would come to the rescue.

If You Had Unlimited Money What Would Your VR6 Look Like?
VRVIRGIN replied to Jezza's topic in Bodywork and Styling
i'd drop my engine in one of my mates Replica Diablos and Twin Turbo Charge the beast for extra effect. BEAST! -
Hiya Guys, just nit picking here, Does anyone know if the Golf 3 Convertable side skirts are actual skirts or are part of the body structure. Was thinking of taking my crappy Black ones off anyway but spotted a Convertable the other day and liked the look of them for mine. Any ideas? Cheers Nel.
-
Wish u the best of luck Claire, though i'm sure you'll do an ace job.
-
Was hoping for some of your input Justin. I believe they are the standard original polished finish, kinda like the cloudy mirror finish that comes from the factory. Since i'm having to go and get them refurbished thought i'd might as well have them completely repolished. Cheers for the info guys.
-
Is the the price you mentioned earlier just for powder coating, or for powder coating and repolishing? Would imagine the former TBH, but just to be sure. Cheers Pete for your help.
-
What does powder coating entail Pete, bit lost in the techy side of wheel refurbs. I basically want to get rid of all the nastiness that is the kerbing of the rims and some dodgy white stains on the wheels what seem like they could be corrosion marks, then buff it all up to Justins or Slims level of blingness. Am i asking the impossible here? Doin it myself is impossible cos A) i'm lazy B never done it before and C) doing between 14 - 16 hours a day shifts. Whatcha rekkon?
-
It was my first ebay purchase, i have learnt my lesson, and now i've calmed down a bit, i realise that my haste in getting these wheels clouded my judgement. Hope this serves as a lesson to all those about to enter the minefield that is ebay. Cheers everyone for your response, i deffinately know better for the next time, if there is one.
-
Didn't use paypal, and we're talking Febuary when i bought them, my cuz worx 4 DHL so got him to have them sent, but he has been more than a little lazy on getting them over. Gonna see if i get a reply to my more than he deserves diplomatic email, then i'll post a picture of his car on every vw forum in the lands, so you can all think twice about getting anything from him. Well, time to look at refurbs now. Will be reporting it to ebay.

Hi all, has anyone had any experince or knows how difficult or expensive it is to bring up a set of TT Comps to there former glory, any details will be greatly appreciated. Wheels are kerbed and have small traces of laquer peel in places, if that helps. Cheers guys Nelson
-
Warren, seem s like u ain't the only one to get ripped off m8, finally received my TT Comps today, and they're nowhere near the condition they were advertised as. Kerbed, slight laquer peel, used on a show car apparently, no pitting kerbing or laquer peel so it said. Not very happy about it, had them shipped over to Spain and have been eagerly waiting months to receive the wheels that i've always wanted, only to find that i'm gonna have to spend even more on them to bring them out to what i was expecting them to be. First and last time i'll be doing any ebaying. Sorry about the whinge peeps. H
