Rubbin' and rollin'
mattverth replied to mattverth's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
They dont rub constantly, just occasional scuff when pressing on. Tyres are 205 40 17 -
Hey guys, What really are the implications of tyres rubbing arches and liners? I imagine the answer is different if the tyre rubs more/less often, at what speed/whether it touches the metal arch lip of the plastic liner. I can definately see a feint line on the front tyres. Will it damage/bust the tyre/blowout/flip you over under extreme circumstances? And secondly, if I did roll the arches, it appears that the rears have a bigger lip than the front so the effect would be more noticeable (or not, if the tyre is only hitting the liners, then rolling would have no effect) and the fronts have a

328mm Brembos fit 17's. Whether they fit MY 17'S is another matter. They are made for Audi S3's/TT, so should fit under my RS4 's nicely. The RS4's flare towards the rim, allowing more space for more braking grunt. Conversely I need 3mm spacers under 17s to fit the 288mm's! $1500 aussie dollars (not new, but not used) against approx $1100 aussie for new 312mm setup. All I'll desire then are some MK4 rears.

The list in realistic order would be: R32 Audi S4 V8 Avant - not the brand new one V10 Touareg (for circle work in a muddy field - I've driven one. Immense thrust!) Ferrari 355 (or Dino 246 if not a daily driver)

Air Intakes Into Front Bumper - Finished With Pics

Mine have a lip too, so like most things in this world, if your a pefectionist, you have to modify them til they fit nicely - like Saedemon. Like I will. One day. Delayed perfection if you like. -
Preferably I would want the smaller box, but the rec. net enclosure volume for my sub is best taken care of by the larger. I will see. Plus the smaller one is a smidge too shallow for my sub: JL even go as far as saying that the box must be bolted down witha 1/2" bolt to the steel of the car, so it doesnt kill you if the barrier doesnt when it pulls out in front of you..... !grr I bolted the box in my jeep down to the wheel arch with a healthy bolt, washers both sides and black silicone, but then there is plenty of clearance in the arch.. Would this be a problem with the VR? I wonder....

You'll still break some clips though! Wrap electrical tape round the trim tool end too to protect surfaces used for leverage.

Having just missed out on an old (knackered) JL Audio MK3 stealth box on ebay.de, I am certain I will be getting a 1.1 cubic foot (the bigger one) auto acoustics sub stealth box for a very cheeky little JL 8"w7 sub. They do a 0.7 Cubic foot version too, suitable for slightly less dangerous 10" subs. Do we have any ICE fans interested in a group buy of the stealth boxes? I would be getting it before Christmas for my folks to bring over to Aus for me. http://www.autoacoustics.com/sbn-vg033.htm They do amp boxes as well for t'other side of t'boot, and parcel shelves that don't bend in the middl

Pics of Golf3 wearing RS6 alloys?
mattverth replied to stuey's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
I'll be biased and put a vote in for RS4 replicas. Or A8's, but I have only sene them as 18" plus. -
If I was to say I could get a Brembo GT setup for 1.5 times the total cost of a 312mm setup, which way would you go. I think the choice is pretty clear!

I asked about this a while back so its good to see the black airfix plastic can be removed and permanently replaced with something quality looking. I have just used the bolts to hold the bonrath vents in, but ideally would have it properly smoothed. I see no reason though why the both cant go back in place after - you'd never see it unless on your hands and knees! Did your bonrath vents fit like a square in a circle? Mine were a pretty ordinary fit. -
They have been referred to as PowerRust... There is a big thread on a GTI forum somewhere.

True, but are not reknowned for increased braking performance. I take your point though, the thread appears to be about looks. Given my photo, I should 1) Pay this thread some attention 2)Use the cleaner and paint I bought

As well as being able to get special high temp brake paint, you can clean the brakes with.... wait for it............. brake cleaning solution %-6 %-6 %-6 On the shelf next to the brake paint %-6 %-6 and what do my calipers look like? Rust colour! New calipers are the best solution!!!

So in theory, a 328 mm brembo gt set made for a audi tt will/wont require a spacer for everything to align?

Self-righteous pratt. Presumably he has driven the Chimaera from the day he passed his test, and never driven a lesser car. I used to know a bloke who owned a major TVR dealership in the South East, and serviced our Stag. He didnt have that attitude, with our "lesser" car, because thats where he started too. I 'll look for quotes on Zonda-OC.COM and look for snide remarks about TVRs....

Not being funny but i thought the idea of a fog lamp is that it is low down, to create a "puddle" of light just in front of the car? Just might be the reason we haven't seen them.... :|

I am sure I saw this somewhere else on here, but for reference: http://www.the-corrado.net/wiki/index.php/312mm_brakes I am currently weighing up the cost/benefits of this setup and a comparitively priced 4 pot 328mm brembo setup. Will keep you posted

winter alloys - suggestions
mattverth replied to Nerih's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
I am soon going to investigate 16 or 17 inch steel wheels from the T4/T5 transporter, just dont know what PCD they are. Any ideas? Would make good Euro look winter wheels!
