i drove my vr6 turbo automatic for three years
running a stage 1 turbo kit @270 bhp
the gearbox gave up after year 3
and the car had done 115.000 miles when i bought it
so the auto box can take some wellie if its serviced properly,
it was cheaper to do a manual conversion than get the box reconditioned,
i was quoted £1200 exchange for a refurb

i will be there
coming from the coast
so will see you there

you could rig up an oil seperator tank :!
that way your throttle body will stay cleaner
and you get the bling as well
getting one that matches the pipe diameter would be a bonus
-
i would reccomend Claires leads for the money
they work as well as any i have tried
-
the turbo starts to come in at 2500 and hits 7psi at 3000 and full boost at 3500, so once in second gear there is no lag as the revs are allways at the right level to hit full boost as you change up.
in the lower gears yes especially with a low compression engine
the ball bearing turbo will hit boost faster about 500 rpm sooner,£1200 would be money well spent

i am making 360 at 11.5 psi

are you based in york i am in scarborough if you need any help
vag com etc

sorry bout getting your hopes up
the part number is 021 906 256 its obd2
you may want to ask the moderator to move this post to the wanted items
you get them on ebay sometimes when a car is being stripped
good luck

gonna have a look round at my garage i have 1 on the shelf
i will check the part number and get back to you( it is obd1 )
i also have an eip stage 2 turbo chip if you plan to go that route

crank, conrods pistons balanced
arp conrod and main bearing bolts
expensive but super strong 2/3rds sronger than stock
heavy duty oil pump
rods shot peened to strengthen them
ceramic coating on the piston crowns
forged pistons if you are going forced induction
total seal rings
are the pistons the same size as the ones you took out?
if so you will only get half a job done.
the bores will be worn if the engine is the original one
you should really as mentioned get a rebore and use 2.9 pistons, or go for 3.0 pistons,
you will have to get the cylinder walls checked to make sure they are thick enough to take the 3.0ltr piston rebore
have a stroked crank and go to 3.1 or 3.2 ltr
the mods depend on how deep you pockets are
make sure the company reboring the block have the experience in doing them and the right equipment.(the right torque plate)
there are very few engineers that do and they will try to hone the block out,
i found out to my horror, my local engineers said they could do it, and honed cylinder 4 out a tiny bit off center and the block lasted a few thousand miles before the cylinder went oval.

its the same as fitting the standard head for the AAA engine

i have got 1
i will have to go check the part number and get back to you

it seems to run in line with the other wires and is not wrapped around the others
does that mean its connected to ground at the end its broken off
thanks for the replies
-
you can buy adjustable cam type lower bolts
when you turn them they adjust the camber in and out
once set you torque up the nut and bend over the metal tab to stop the nut loosening off,
i cant remember where i got them (maybe awesome gti)
the mechanic setting up your camber will usually use a pry bar or a special vw tool
-
good idea :! thanks
-
camber
i had torque steer problems
had the treacking and camber done and a new set of tyres fitted and now it pulls alot straighter than before
-
loose battery terminal or earth problem?
-
obd1 anyone out there who could take a quick look and see where the black wire goes
-
-
i got some mega leads from claire and the car made 360bhp after being totally remapped by vince
they are £40 a set
magnecors are a good lead set in my opinion but over priced for what they are
-
any help would be appreciated

all the wires for the o2 plug are connected
the black wire ia separate but withinthe loom outer casing
the sensor seems to work fine and does not show any faults on vag com
i will try to get a picture posted
-
hi some wiring help please (not my strongest subject)
on the loom which supplies the lambada probe / o2 sensor
four of the wires go to a connecter which then is plugged into the o2 sensor
my question is what is the 5th black wire for and connected to?
mine is cut off and icant see any where it should be connected to
is it an earth to chassis?
:!
how can i make my vr6 faster? induction kit? exhaust? it's an automatic, does that matter?
