  1. Don't some of the other cars in the VAG range have 5 x 112 filaments, such as the Passat? Just wondering if this is the mistake? - although I wouldn't have thought you would be able to get more than 2 bolts in as they would be quite a way out. You're on sticky ground for the return seeing as you have damaged them - yes you can quote about not being "fit for purpose" you can use this when an item is basically crap or if it is the wrong part, which sounds to be the case here. But that doen't allow you to damage them by trying your best to make it fit. If you had just held the wheels up to the ca
  2. Mike, When I went to fit the links that Awesome had sent me I found they were completely different, this was last weekend (27th Nov). I rung Awesome and spoke to Jim (originally was dealing with Dean). Jim seemed to know his stuff and straight away figured out the problem. The ones they had ordered and sent to me are for a normal Golf, i.e. NOT GTI or VR6. Jim said he could order the right ones and it would take about a week for them to arrive and then he would call me. I'll see if I can get hold of Jim tomorrow and get an update. Weird how you rang on the Friday before me and they said it was
  3. Just a quick update on the price for the Neuspeed front ARB links. Price is more than original quoted (what a suprise!) £40 + VAT (per pair) and about £4 for delivery. Although if you buy them at the same time as new ARBs you should get a discount - or if you are good at negotiating a price Awesome have a few pairs in right now if anybody is interested.
  4. There's more details on the Group Buy link' but List price for the front wishbone front bush is £12 (each) List price for pair of caster adjustsable bushes for the front wishbone rear bush is £90.44 However, if I get 3 people (inc myself) I should be able to get 40% or if get 6+ (inc myself) should get 45% so for all 4 bushes for the front wishbone with 45% off would be £63 No that's not bad!
  5. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you! Link; http://www.superflex.co.uk/ go to 'Product Range Index' then follow through to VW golf Mk3. I spoke to Chris to see if he could post me a picture. He told me that SuperFlex maufacture in Australia and they haven't got any in at the moment. The bush will be very similar to the Powerflex one but with an over sized center hole. a metal insert is then fillted into the center hole (like a normal bush) but with it being larger it can have an off center drilled hole for the bolt. By rotating the bush it allows you to adjust the caster and alter the fr
  6. A few days ago I put a thread on the Group Buy for the caster adjustable front wishbone bushes (now 8th down the list). I'm really suprised nobody is interested Adjusting the caster is supposed to make a good difference to the front handling. Is it that no one can be arsed changing the bushes or is everyone already on PowerFlex ?!
  7. Black - nuff said! Want to get a picture on my signaure, can someone tell me how to please!
  8. Not done a track day before - now starting to worry, seeing as no one wants to put their VR's on there!!! But I'm still up for putting my VR6 on the track. [ Edited Mon Nov 15 2004, 10:16PM ]
  9. acf, I'm sure they are 288's on mine - May 1997. You have probably seen on another thread that I have just fitted Neuspeed ARB's on mine, still on standard springs/dampers, I now get a little bit of lift off over steer - nearly caught me out the first time it did it! but now I'm expecting it I drive comfortably with it - Infact I really like it!
  10. When I got my car I found I was getting a good bit of brake fade from the standard brakes (that most famous of Cheshire roads - the cat and fiddle - was just too much!!) So I put EBC turbo (grooved and spotted) front disks with Ferodo DS2500 pads. I love em! - not too bad when cold and just get better and better the harder you brake! I still have standard brakes on the rear which I think helps when the brakes are cold. I was worried that it might be a bit unbalanced when I first did it and thought I would soon be upgrading the rear but it feels fine - seeing as the back dosn't take much load
  11. Just wondering if anything is happening with this event?
  12. Confirmed with Awecsome that the 25mm front bar isn't supplied with the links - yet the 22mm one listed for the GTI is supplied with them - strange! Awesome can get the front links seperately and are ordering a few pair in.
  13. On another thread I was just saying that I bought and fitted front and rear Neuspeed ARBs (both 25mm), from Awsome GTI. The front bars weren't supplied with Neuspeed links anymore!!!! Need to check with Awsome tomorrow that they weren't just missing out of my pack - although the instructions detailed - unsrewing the factory links from the exisiting ARB and fitting it to the new one. So it sounds like they might have stopped supply the links I'll let you know tomorrow!
  14. Got the Neuspeeds fitted at the weekend - Asolutely fantastic Totaly makes the car handle sooooo nice on the Cheshire twisty road - even with standard dampers and springs! From other threads I've read I thought the Front Neuspeed was going to come with new link rods, but I had to use the exisiting ones as none were supplied. The instructions stated to used the factory ones as well. Will double check with Awsome GTI tomorrow (new there was something I supposed to do today!) that they weren't just missing from my pack. Having fitted the rear 25mm I doubt you would want the 28mm.
  15. Following on from my previous thread, finding out what a Schrick Inlet Manifold does for you and the price!!!!.... Now I'm wonder what should I do first ???- biggest Bang for my buck and all that!!! I have a standard VR6 - only mods so far are to the handling - EBC brakes. This weekend Neuspeed ARBs and 16" alloys are going on. Last weekend took it to Mikeanics in Congleton to get it on the RR and it came out at 176.6BHP - no suprises there - doing exactly what it says on the tin! Looking for ideas from the weath of knowledge spread across you all as to what mods I should do to improve the eng
  16. Time to be Dumb! I have seen loads of comments about Shrick Inlet Manifolds..... but what I haven't figured out is exactly what one is! Yes I know what an Inlet Manifold is (for those that were really worried about me!) but how does the Shrick one differ from a standard one? What improvements will it make? Is it a mod you can do in isolation or do you need to do other mods to get the benifit from it? And how much do they cost? Cheers in advance for the help!
  17. I have just bought a pair of Neuspeed ARB's this afternoon from AwesomeGTI. I spoke to Dean and we discussed whether to go for 25 or 28mm for some time. In the end I went for 25mm. The thought was that 28mm would be over cooking it and you would end up with 1 rear wheel in the air on every bend! Attached is a handy page I found, scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see a link to a PDF file that has a handy chart, it shows how much stiffer it will be going from one size of ARB to another. Going from 25 to 28mm is 57% - That's a lot extra! On the link you ccan find the Whiteline ARB (or
  18. I couldn't get through to Brentacre when I was doing mine at the begining of this month. Best quote was from Adrian Flux £498 with NCD protected - I was well chuffed. (I'm 28 with 7 years NCD - although the max discount they count is 5). Mods declared - although it hasn't got much done yet, just front brakes up-rated really. But it's on a modified cover & I got the impression that I could do a lot more without the premium going up! Just have to pay £15 for admin costs, everytime you update the policy.
  19. I've just been looking into which tyres to get as well. This is all what I've been told - not my own words - so don't shoot me down for it! Out of it all what I have managed to pick up is that Goodyear Eagle F1's are supposed to be a better tyre than Toyo Proxes T1S. But I was also told that you will only get the benefit if you are always driving the car to the limit - & I don't mean driving it hard on the road like we all like to do - I mean driving it on a track - I was told that even then only extremely good drivers who can really put the car on the edge will spot the difference ?! I
  20. Mine is still on the standard 15 (205/50/15). Planning to go to 16's. What size tyre are other people running on 16's? On the inside of the filler cap it lists the tyre pressures & there it details 2 tyre sizes, my current 205/50/15 and also 215/40/16., so that is the size I was going to put on. Any oppinions? My car isn't lowered - yet
