Sorry to ressurect this thread, but I'm having probs with my ABS at the moment - My ABS light has been on for a couple of weeks and VW dealership said N/S front ABS sensor is faulty - so today I've just had a new one put on (along with some new pads). The ABS light was out, so I drove off home happy. Near home though the ABS would come on nearly every time I applied the brake <10mph - along with some juddery noises from behind the dash (ABS pump ???) - sometimes this noise happens when I'n not even braking ! The dealership took it for a test drive before I left and confirmed there were

[moved] BBS Wheel Centre Pieces
maak replied to andy's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
I'm in the same boat as you andy, http://www.gpcvwaudi.co.uk/ supposedly supply them but haven't got back to me, other than that the stealership is the only other option I know. Good luck, and keep us posted! -
Never seen mine above 90, even after some "enthusiastic driving". Bit worried now :@
-
Nice car valverant! Your BBS alloys look in good condition, as do yours Ben. Wish mine were like that!
-
nope, the horn on mine is plenty loud enough IMO!
-
maybe - I thought that, but didn't want to say it on here and embarrass myself, in case I was speaking garbage! Any ideas how to fix the annoying clicking relay? cheers.
-
ok, obviously I didn't mean to make this a poll - sorry folks, it's a bit difficult surfing with images off (I'm at work). ta.
-
What's all this about then? When I put my wipers on intermittent (or the rear wiper on) it makes the noise as if I was indicating! Any ideas how to fix? cheers [ Edited ]
-
ok, thanks folks, I'll let you know if the new leads+plugs make any difference. cheers
-
Folks, Currently getting around 23mpg when cruising at 70 - what are you folks getting? I'm getting new plugs/leads this week - will this improve things ? She has just been checked by VW and no other major fault codes... Hope you guys enjoyed the RR day! TIA Maak
-
Well thanks very much for all the posts ppl! I phoned the dealership and asked them what exactly is a speed sensor - he said it was there to "regulate the revs of the engine" (?) I said it seems to regulate them fine AFAIK! So I'm not getting it replaced - just the plugs, leads and ABS sensor. Hopefully, replacing the 30k/3year old plugs/leads will improve the old girl's performance! Cheers all
-
Ooo, ok ta for that - I'm not sure why they say it needs replacing though as all seems well with the trip computer. Hmmmmmm Thanks again!
-
OK, just been to the stealership, apparently I need new plugs, leads, ABS sensor (which I was expecting TBH) and a speed sensor. Before I authorise the work to be done, what exactly IS a speed sensor - as far as I know my car senses the speed fine ! TIA!
-
Hey, good news. !amazed I better start saving!
-
Are they hard to replace/clean? Washed my car yesterday and my ABS light came on this morning, could that have caused the problem? arg.
-
Now that is a crackin picture, Speedo.

Oo, OK, I think I'll give the battery thing a miss then. Wish I had a mate that was a VW technician! Hope you get it sorted VR6Andy, keep us informed.

Thanks for this zerocool, just looked into this further and some chap has said this: "With the engine fully warmed up on the oil temp., do a basic set-up (tuning) by disconnecting the battery for a few seconds to reset the ECU (use the earth side to disconnect). The trip meter should have reset after this. Reconnect and then within 10 minutes of re-starting the engine complete the three following things. a. Idle for 1 minute (at about 5mins in the run) b. Accelerate in 4th starting at 30mph with the throttle held at halfway (foot steady) for 4 seconds minimum, not top limit but 10 seconds is g

Cheers Gwalkvr6, I'll give them a try for my next service. Thanks again.

greater manchester, bolton, working in blackburn. Apparently the alignment was REALLY messed up, I'm not aware of a local VAG specialist. I'm going to look around when it's due for it's service though. Good news is that the supplying garage are going to replace the radiator free of charge. I'm really in the dog house with the wife for spending all our money on the car !
-
My VW dealership say my radiator is cracked (very slow leak) and I need a new one fitted, which they can do for £300. This seems a little expensive for me, they are quoting 2.5 hours labour. Could the radiator possibly be fixed up (welded?), is replacing it an easy job for DIY or should I ask a couple of the smaller garages for quotes... I don't wont to give the stealership any more business as they have charged me £290 to fix my wheel alignment and to detect the leak! Any advice welcome folks!
-
arg, just got off the phone from VW and apparently my allignment is waaaaay out, going to take 2-4 hours labour to fix. Also, apparently my clutch is on it's way out and they haven't even looked at the coolant leak yet. Oh no, my credit card is going to take a bashing this month! Bit p1ssed off TBH.
-
vr6Andy, FWIW I have a similar problem to you, if I ever get to the bottom of it, I'll be sure to let you know. Binliner, is cleaning the throttle body an easy thing to do ?
-
I won't be updating my alloys anytime soon so I'll going to have the allignment done now. Good point though. Have found two more probs though, I have a coolant leak somewhere and maybe a small oil one (although it doesn't look like fresh oil TBH) Arg. I may have to ask VW to take a good look at her, and hope the coolant problem is just a clip somewhere. I'll check myself in more detail tomorrow.
