90% of cars are fuel injected. only old cars have carburetteurs. there are two types of injection though, multi point and single point. multi is much better (and is what the vr6 is), single point is basically an electic carb.

As acf says, I just didn't know, really the question was asked by one of my mates which I couldn't answer.

Isn't it the case, that virtually all cars went to fuel injection with the introduction of catalytic converters to compensate for some of the power loss?

you never stop learning...for example i only found out the other day that mkIII gti's lept the arch trim throughout (though they lost it on later models like the vr6 did)

iv got a noob question what models hav outside temp sensor mine has a hole in the bumper where the bottom grills go/went and not suprisingly no temp on the computer?

You may find the sensor hanging down in the engine bay, mine was/still is (lazy f00ker), plus there was a post somewhere with a picture recently.

do gtis and lower hav temp sensor (not many scrap vrs to get the bits off)

yeah they do.......... gti 8v/16v and vr's all have the mfa.........i think the early clocks are different from the later ones though!
