gazbrook 0
Yes its me again, in relation to the last vr6 vs gttdi thread, what is the most cost effective mod to improve the torque on my vr??? I know a lot of you have bought schricks, i'm sure this is a good mod, are there any others??
VR6Pete 1,455
Schrick sorry, but that is the best mod for the VR6
acf8181 0
change gear ratios?
FishWick 21
Yep, a 3.94 diff from a Passat or a 3.71 diff from a G60 will shorten the ratios nicely, giving more urgent acceleration, but with a reduced top end. Use a 0.75 5th if you want to keep the top end. Standard VR diff is 3.39 which is too tall imo, but is what gives you reasonable economy. You won't increase torque significantly without a schrick or forced induction. A trait of cross flow breathing I'm afraid.
VRmonster 1
hmm, so can these just be dropped in by any old mechanic, or do they require working to fit? and where would i source such parts?
Eat this 2
would any other box just fit straight on ie mk2 or 3 gti box?? i would like another gear longer than 5th just for cruisin at speed
acf8181 0
you want a longer 5th gear?are you going for a land speed record? cause i heard that the standard 5th will theoretically go upto about 165mph!
nickbee 1
Isn't cruising at speed the VR's forte? It's fairly easy to cruise at 100 by accident, so I presume you mean you want to be able to do it at lower revs???Either way, I don't think putting in the gearbox from a slower car will help... VR6Steve 0
A chip would help to raise the torque and make the most of your engine.
gazbrook 0
i've already got my car chipped, looks like its a schrick then , the rent can wait
