if its one of the rear mounts its a bit of a pain trying to jack the engine up from 2 angles to fit em, so may as well remove the engine and do the lot at once. but if its the front and your chains arent noisy, then just jack the box up a little and slot the new one in.

really speaking you may have just pulled a bolt from its mounting in the actual bushes so may not be a major problem. i think there is a discount on the Vibratechnics stuff in the members section, may be worth a paying visit ;)

Engine mounts are no drama mate, standard ones are not that much, vibratechnics ones are £130 ish for the front one which is also the biggest, the other two are in the region of £60 each if I remember correctly. The vibratechnics front mount comes highly recommended, I've got one and it stiffens things up nicely, better gearchange and no extra vibration. As for whether you should have the engine out, that has to be down to how the engine was running already...

most likley its the engine mount metal bracket thats given up rather than the mount itself.....piss easy to change, just remove the drivers side wheel, jack engine up, undo bolts and replace. no need to remove engine. is a strong chance the engine may have damaged the exhaust or something being at such an angle though. if you wanna do your chains its easier to remove gearbox IMO.
