rodney 17
As above there are several companies who we have deals set up with for premium members (£10 cost to join and 10-15% discounts)But as said your age may be a limiting factor for some...
bungy 2
For your insurance policy did you offer a large excess and limit your miles? It's a sign of the times when injury claims and fraud are pushing up the cost of insurance. The only option is to try as many different companies as possible to find one that suits you. The ones linked to the forum understand these cars and strive to deliver good prices...
Ben Seabrook 4
Also its a conversion which counts against you
craggsy 91
Try Brentacre as they were good for me on my rotrexed VR.I'm with A-plan on the R32.But I'm 37 so can insure most cars quite easily
jims13 6
Well I pay 700 tptf for my vr6 caddy van , all mods declared with business use . That's with 0 no claims and running as a seperat policy to my camper. So conversions don't hqbe to count against you . But age does, its a sad.world , but they do charge.more if u are young and ain't female, or smell of piss and twiglets .
craggsy 91
Also HIC/Adrian Flux couldn't insure me for less than £2k so didn't even give me full price lol
HAMMER_VR6 0
Adrian flux gave me some silly quote on the phone, Then out of the blue they rang me back a couple of days later. They knocked about £300 off and beat my renewal quote. Put your mum or girl friend on your car as named driver also can knock off hundreds.
oldmandon 1
Also insuring the car as a second car will reduce it further. So secret is....Be Old,Add a womanSecond car,Limited MileageIncrease your voluntary excessThat should do it...If you can't do all, being 22 that counts out OLD, do as many of the others as possible....but most of all be HONEST.... p0u1 14
ok guys i decide to take my vr off the road for a year and bought a old 306 dt for the time being, being 22 its difficult getting insurance but i should be thankful i drove the mighty vr for a year and a half :-p.so plan being restore my vr over the next year and get it back on the road for end of 2012 with 1 years no clams (i hope), after driving the 306 back from where i bought it i can say its a very good car and cheap to drive 10 quid of fuel for for the 60mile trip back and still 1/8 off the tank left for me to use its very cheap compared to the vr, but im going to miss the 50mph i could get out off first gear in my vr and the amazing breaks and grip on coil overs and, and, much more :-( anyway it will be back on the road when i got a few more pounds spare and being alive a bit longer hopefully i will get a build thread going some time in 2012 installing a eaton m90 or m112 on my golf, whatever i can get hold of, something i always wanted to do but never been able to take my car off the road. The Monk 50
Turds are charging me £150 more this year even though I'm now 25 years old.Yet only charged around £890 when I was 21/22.... over £500 less than this new year. Makes perfect sense, robbing ********!.
craggsy 91
But 3/4 yrs ago insurance was cheaper tho Chris. When I went from n/a to f/I in the vr6 I paid the same money even tho I had upped the power by 100bhp!Work that one out.I'll let ya know about the R32 in February
p0u1 14
truth been its gone up for everyone but not 1500quid that's not fair in my case, the more annoying thing is i asked for a quot 3 month before just a rough idea and all they could offer back was a quot one month before my policy ends, giving me no time to sort out a car, i got lucky getting a 306 xtdt for 170quid that works and i could insure(1700 :-s 250quid first payment bit off a joke for a old diesel), but spending that lump of money in one go wasnt easy for me been young and poor :-( but i got sorted and got to keep my vr6 as my project :-)
