highline oil temp at 90 degrees is it normal?

i have just brought a 98 r highline with 90,000 and a full service history only worry is that the oil temp is averaging 90 degrees. my last vr6 was a 92 j reg and it never went much above 70 degrees. so is this just normal or what could be the problem?

when mine's warmed up it sit in the mid-eighties (if i remember correctly!) i wont put my foot down until its gone over 80. doesn't sound like you have a problem

Mine runs around mid 80's goes to low 90's when pushing it a bit

the vr,s seem to run a higher oiltemp than yer gti,s mine averages mid 80,s to 90 odd .

nothin wrong with 90 degrees m8 vrs r alot hotter than 2l 4 pots 100 degrees when u give it some is fine afaik

you're last VR6 never went above 70?! my highline used to average 90ish but regularly went close to 110

you sure you aint confusing oil temp with water temp?

either way 70 is too low i'd say.

i've seen oil temp go up to 110 in summer, which is fine according to the bentley. i think you don't worry till it gets mega high.

ive had my oil temp up at 110 when ive been driving it hard, but usually its around 90 something, nowadays in this freezing weather its not gone above hundred even when its pushed.

Excatly what i was thinking!! the water temp is an analog dash guage (which usually sits at 70 degrees)and the oil temp is a digital guage on the mfa!!Don't be confused dude!!
