AAARRGHHH!!! HELP!! Which Sat-Nav?

Need to get a Sat-Nav and have been looking for a while now. Want to make sure I get a decent one which does the basics well, so have been trying to do my research by asking in the shops and searching the online reviews, but I seem to be getting so much contradicting information, it's doing my head in!! I can't seem to find one product which has consistently good reviews. They all seem to have one person say it's the dogs danglies, then the next person says it is a waste of space!

I have heard that the after sale service / care on TomTom's is shockingly poor, which is kinda putting me off them. On the other hand I hear that the after sale service / care from Garmin is second to none. But when I look at reviews of their products, none of them seem that great.

So, can anyone give me their 2p's worth please. I'm not wanting to spend loads, maybe up to £120 if I have to, but preferably a bit less if I can find a good sale deal. And it doesn't have to have all the extra bells and whistles, I just want it to do what it says on the tin and do it well.

I've had tomtom for about 5 yrs now and it's faultless. Ijust need to update it as sone roads ain't there lol. Dead easy to use as well

I've got TomTom for iPhone - cant fault it!!! always been a tom tom user for as long as I remember.

Tom tom all the way , easy to use and very reliable , my dad still uses my old one from 5 years ago everyday , I wouldn't have anything else after borrowing a garmin from a friend once !

Sounds like they are a better product when they work. But have any of you ever had to return your TomTom for any reason? It's all well and good if you get one that works (and i'm sure, generally they work fine), but if it does go wrong, then I don't fancy waiting several months for a repair / replacement (which is what I've heard can be the case).

Also, is there a particular TomTom model you can recommend, if I was to go for one?

tom tom for me , i just get software for nokias they stopped it cos new nokias come with tom tom installed free

yes i had a tom tom n returned it every other week to be fixed got that bad halfords signed there demo one over to me as it spent longer with me than in shop wouldnt touch a tom tom with my life i use a garmin 205wt and carnt fault it. I get traffic info and in my type of job you need to get into city centres n postcode's only point to the street on the garmin satnavs at a touch of the button u can scroll the maps to find sumthing ur looking for. also we use texeaco fuel cards and on tom toms they just lable on the points of intrest petrol station. they dont actually say which company it is. So when i get a new one in a month or so will be looking for garmin one

I've had tom tom since it was invented... works uk and europe and never misses a road as long as maps up to date... LOL - No issues - The end..

I'm a courier and a load of the blokes in work that have sat nav (pussies!! Haha), all have garmin or medion.

I've had mine for over 3 and a half years and like craggsys its been faultless.

In fact they have been that good that my work bought a load in for the drivers.

We used to use Garmin but they were utterly g&sh!

agree with tom tom being a good one, i used one for 2 years when i was a locksmith and it never let me down once. I left the company 3 years ago n the tom tom is still going strong.

Yeh Thomas Thomasons are brilliant
