russj249 2
Right I've had my VR6 now for a year and my insurance is coming up for remewal.Bit of background info...I'm 192 years NCBNo Claims or Points1995 Golf VR6 3drOnly thing I find is the specialist insurers that will give a discount for VR6OC members won't insure under 21's.Also I had my 1st year on the VR6 as a 10 month policy as I couldn't afford to pay for the 12. Not sure if this was the right thing to do now I look back because I have 2years NCB but my licence 2 years in Feb.Any idea's?
DanH 1
adrianne flux were the only people who would touch me....on there special 'modified' policy....but i was 20 when i got mine and got full ncb....but it is parked on the road in a really high crime area.....only £500 a year tho! 2nd best quote was like £2k
russj249 2
i think i might give them a ring.. but sure last time i tried they were only 21's and overI will check with them anyway
russj249 2
right.. gave them a ring but they wont accept the 2 years NCB as I haven't had my licence for 2 years and that come back at £3000 3rdPF+TIf i was to ring up bell (who I'm with now) is it possible to have 2 month cover? craggsy 91
Them bonus accelerators are a scam as most other insurers wont except them.....only company that did it.
goonersteve 0
Unfortunately, Craig is right there ^^ This is a scheme designed to keep your custom and makes it very difficult to change insurers The only thing you can do is ask your current insurer to send you confirmation of your NCB as a percentage, rather than number of years. You may be lucky and find another insurer who will take that into account. Or you could try and find another insurer who does this bonus accelerator scheme. And no, you won't be able to get 2 months cover from your current insurer.

russj249 2
Cheers Pete, I've sent them a message. Thanks to everyone else too.My renewal come back as £1500 for 3rd PF+T for another 10 months. But I can be fully comp for £1806 which I don't think is that bad (for my age etc)Just normal 3rd PF+T is £1900!Also It's £200 cheaper for me to insure a Supra 3.0 Twin Turbo as long as it's a UK model. How does that work!
AJmk2 2
Who was it cheaper to insure a supra with ? Sounds a bit mad. Im currently insured with flux but definatly going to shop around when time comes.
russj249 2
it was admiral who quoted less for a supra. They wouldnt insure an import till I'm 21 but a UK model they seem pretty happy with!
spadam 7
yea ive been told uk supra twin turbo is rather cheap to insure. Im paying £625 with hic and im 21 with 3 years no claims.
bungy 2
There is no difference between insuring an N/A or TT Supra or very minimal. Still a high insurance group though.

VR6Pete 1,455
When I insured my first VR6 at 18, it was over 1,600, and that was insured using a loop hole due to my age I'm now 25, paid less than 1k to insure my 220BHP golf mk2, although I need to think about insuring my Corrado VR6 once its up and running.Pete
