VR6Nat 9
Hey, i thought its about time i started my own thread for my lil VR as i seem to be doin a fair bit to him over time.... so gonna start with a few pics of how he was when i got him back in december.... So totally standard, 94k on the clock, FSH, only 2 owners.... £1700 :) and i was bloody away, 1st time vr owner and lovin it!!! Stayed that way til January when i put it thru a service and put some wheels on.... Then it looked like this... Then came the list.... I then replaced Ht leadsBatteryABS panel on dashABS pumpCam Cover GasketPedal Box (only thing not done by me)New oil and filter againfront brake discs (brembo vented)and pagid padsand i added....BMC panel filterDebadged grilleblack side repeatersGaz fully adjustable coiloversDeep chin front splitterNew number plates and holdersFront upper strut braceBonnet liftersDe wipered the back windowPainted my engine coverRemoved all the silly stickersAlso had to replace one wheel at cost of 220 (f**kin potholes)and now he looks like this (for now....)Im now having some time off as i have just replaced the chains on my baby and it has screwed my plans up a bit, (i will add these pics to the thread in a min) so im gonna see out the show season as he is and save up over the winter and get the other bits done..... So there you go, thats the life of my VR since i got him in december.... dont think ive done bad for someone so small!!! hahahaha. :)

VR6Nat 9
The most recent update to my vr is the timing chains have been done, i spent the day down at Tony's in Kent and took the whole engine out, put in new chains, guides and tensioners, also while i was there i was going to replace the clutch, but luckily enough for me the one in there was well good so didnt need doing. So i stuck some new gearbox oil in and a whole new set of G12++ coolant... mmmm he's lovely and fresh now... as he had an oil and filter change only 2 weeks ago!!! :) So here's some pics of how the day went... we started at about 11 am.... and by 1pm this is where we were at..... than tony cracked the engine open and got to the chains..... while i got on with what i do best, polished the engine bay.... Then in went the lovely new chains and the car got put back together!!!! :) And once he was back together, he started first time, and not one vag com code, not one leak, rattle or loose anything... i must say i was really impressed.... Im one of the worst ppl to help out as i hate anyone touchin my vr and there isnt many i trust, but Tony did a great job and now my car is lovely and new again!!!! :) That really is it now, until the winter then ill see what i can come up with by next show season!!! :)
cabrioman 6
wish id got a pic of ur face when i said i was taking the whole engine out .... lol
VR6Nat 9
oooh i lied!! I didnt fit my ABS pump or coilovers, but other than that i believe ive done everything, would be happy to help anyone where i can, i dont know as much as some but i know more than others if you know what i mean?! lol....Thanks for your comments too guys, esp you Nige!!! It has taken a lot of hard work to get him to where he is today and a lot of good detailing products to get that bodywork lookin as good as it does too... prob spent over 80 hours cleaning and polishing the outside alone!!! Ive spent more time and effort on this car than i have anything in my life, but after 8 months i think it is finally starting to show.... :) And tony, yes, i have a fabulous rear end thank you and i think my bra is very smart too!! lol
VR6Nat 9
and yeah, i actually thought i was gonna be sick for a minute, and it took me about 2 hours to calm my heart rate down and to breath properly, i did think at one point i had to sit down cuz the constant panic was too much for me to cope with, but i got used to it and glad i trusted Tony with this job, no way would i have let any old garage do that to my baby.... lol. :)
Dave_ciw 507
Looking good folks nice work tony your becoming our online alcoholic mechanic every pic is either pissed or engine in hand............... Your living the dream fella living the dream lol.Cars looking gleaming as usual Nat bet you scrubbed that bay when the lump was out auto glym at the ready lol. Can imagine tony laying with a VR engine squashing his arm screaming "help" and Nat in the background saying Hold on a second just polishing this a minute. lol
craggsy 91
I really must do this as well. But gotta be chuffed Nat as its all coming together.Oh and where's pics of old guides and chains to check the wear out?
VR6Nat 9
Ahh thanks, i know i havent really done much to mine, only lil bits, but that is all my budget will allow for the moment (then a few hundred on top) lol, but yeah, from where he's come from to where he is today im well happy. :) and to be honest Craig there wasnt really that much wear... there was some slight grooves on the back of the guides, but not as much as i would have expected but i think it might partly be down to the chain stretching over time as the rattle was def bad enough to make me wanna get them done!! lol.Ive left them at tony's too so cant even take pics now.... didnt think of that!! Doh! haha.
