Glovebox.

Recommended Posts

Mines a 1994 model and doesn't have one, annoyingly there's just a little shelf. Saw a picture of a later model with a glovebox below the passenger airbag, do all later models have that or is it just highlines? Are there any other interior variations between old and newer?.....like better seats ;-)

Mines not a h/line and has the glove box under the airbag (R plate). Like eat this said - it aint exactly big. My other Mk3 (non VR6) had a big g/box where the air bag on the VR is. As for seats, my older Mk3 Driver (L plate) had much better cloth on the seats - much thicker and harder wearing. Shape of the seat was the same . I think th VR also came with a recaro seat option.

I might change to the glovebox then, can't hide anything easily, as far as the seats go, I really struggle to get comfortable, I am 6'3 but I find the drivers seat doesn't even seem to be centralised on the steering wheel, I'm pointing to the right of the wheel. Find the upper back support non existant, it p*sses me off even more than the bumpy ride lol, anyone else? need some recaros...and a schrick....and an arb....and a chip....the list goes on ;-)

well...to get technical you're supposed to inform the insurance co that you've disabled the airbag.

one of the reasons i went for a '93 car was that i was gonna change the wheel anyway..essential for a good driving position.

i agree by the way...standard seats are horribly unsuportive of the upper back/shoulders. you know what seats i've found that are very comfy...mkIV polo 16v/glx ones. much better than the golf ones. i suspect they'll bolt into the golf no probs....but the missus wouldn't let me swap front seats to see!

I can't put my seat that far back as I can't reach the steering wheel properly then (long legs you see)' date=' are the leather seats a better shape than the cloth ones?[/quote']

sounds like you need an aftermarket steering wheel with spacer to me.

let me guess, to be able to hold the wheel, you then become too squashed up? same prob i had, i knew it before i bought a vr6, so already had the stuff ready to fit.

mine is spot on now, the wheel is less than a foot from me :)
