New Alloys?

My golf has 16" OZ alloys on the moment but there very shabby if you know what i mean, Im looking to buy some new one but I think the car has been lowered 40mm in the past ans was wondering if 17" wheels would fit or do I have to buy 16"" Also what width of alloy would you recommend?

yeh 17's will fit fine, i have 17's. I have 17's in 8" wide and im sure that when i lower it i will need to roll the arches, not sure if this is the case if you go for 7" ones.

anything wider then 7" and/or 35et would mean you'll properly have to roll your arches.

its the wheels offset. when u go for alloys on the vr6 make sure they are ET35, anything else and this will involve you having to get adapters to make them fit.

sweet, wwhat would you guys recommend for new wheels go back to 15" or buy some 16"? It hard to find good tyres for 16"

i got 8X17 alloys at the moment and my car is preety low, no clearance issues and i have standard arches, however i have just bought some new 17 BBS RS 301 wheels from Germany, which i am kinda pleased with!!!! they cost enough! THEY LOOK HELLA COOL IMO! roll on the summer!

WOW is all i can say to those bbs wheels. Guess Ill be buying 17" then :)I suppose I can always buy 7x 17 if im unsure. what size tyres do you have on your 8 x 17?

205 40 17 toyo proxes dude, hey richie these rims are gonna be with me for life!!! so rare in 5x100 VW fit!! with the other subtle bits i am gonna do im hoping she`s gonna look 1 sweeeeet 5 door VR for the spring and the show season

in that pic it was about 80mm !!!!! but it was too low for UK roads and it hit the liners if you ran over a matchstick!!! got it about 60mm now and its just right, very slight touch now and then if you get a bit of roll on a corner or hit one of the craters that come as standard on uk roads! but fine during "normal" fast driving! dont even rub with a boot full of holiday gear and the family in!

what ET/spacer on the 8x17,also will them fit without coilovers.

the ET of the standard RH alloys is et60 and they come with a 25mm hub adaptor for 5x100 to 5x112 stud pattern and making them about ET 35, clearance will definately be ok without coilovers as thats how i had mine to start with

mmmm yeah but someone has first refusal on them, depends how negotiations go!!!, dont want my pants pulled down on em as they are only a year old!!!! if they dont want em then it will be advertised on here then flea bay after that so keep an eye out as they dont stick around long!!!
