vwmadgirl 0
OK , my standard black side skirts/ strips what ever you want to call them, are knackard, they have started to go rusty and the drivers side has gone out of shape and keep falling off everytime i open the door....... x) I need a new set or a set of aftermarket side skirts, but am skint as at the mo and the problem being im on a stand a Max power live next weekend so need to get some asap.... :? Does anyone have any standard ones where they have replaced them with aftermarket ones? can anyone help me out PLEASE.........
Guest Olly_K
lol, if you wanted people to help you should've left out the max power bit !only joking. mine arent standard, and you can only get em from a main dealer. I had exactly the same problem, infact my door was catching it and pulling it off even more. would it be worth trying to take it off and putting it back straighter ?
SankysVR6 1
have you tried GPC in luton. Im sure they had some at the inters.

Guest Olly_K
they come away from the body work and act as a water trap, making the sill go rusty
vwmadgirl 0
how can plastic arches go rusty?!Its not the arches, i dont have arches on mine, not plastic ones anyway, its the plastic side skirts, they are metal underneath and as olly said water gets trapped in there and they rust and the plastic pulls away from the metal ...olly ive got the same problem when i open the door its catching on there and pulls it off........Grrrrr ~And as for Max power.....pmsl...... im going up there for Girl racer and said i would go on the stand as they want girlys on there stand so thought why not, but wont be going without the side skirt......And also theres no chance of just taking it off and putting it back on straighter, its way past that ..... :@

If it had been the door strips i could of helped you out with mine! One of my side skirts is falling off also - someone jacked the car up without putting it in the right place and managed to squash the sill! :@ Could be time for a nice set of M3 look-a-like skirts maybe? 28v6r 0
Can I see what you're referring to??Ordinarily I would make some smutty comment about you not wearing a "Skirt" or summat like that but I'll refrain on this case... However how about this for a solution......How about using a paint stripper gun gently to "Straighten" the plastic, it is afterall only heavy plastic so it should be mouldable and therefore go back into place...Next, Clean the surrounding area THOROUGHLY with Celly Thinners, DON'T WORRY it won't remove the paint just any dirt or polish ONLY, making sure the area is well spotless and dry!! Next you have two options here....1/ Pending on the size of the lip or Edge, you could apply a product called "Sikaflex" available from your local Bodyshop Paint Store - price around the £6 mark! and "G" clamp the skirt to the body work until set... thats how things are professionally attached on bodywork (Look at the framework of your bonnet, you'll see big Blobs of it holding the metal together!) and it is permanent, no "Screwing" required (pfnarr pfnarr!) OR.......2/ Using a roll of double sided tape or "Numberplate tape" available from "Halfords" price £1.50 you can apply this to the plastic and again clamp in position for a lesser while, and gently remove the clamps. It is a permanent fixing method, but not as robust as alternative 1. It's up to you Paula how you do it (No!! Not the "Screwing" or the "positioning" of the appendage pfnarr pfnarr) but it will get you by on the day without MAJOR outlay!Good Luck! Enjoy the show, let me know what you choose to do huh?? 8o) 8o)

VR6Steve 0
PaulaAssuming you are talking about the thin strip along the top of the sideskirts, they just pull off and are a push fit to replace. You are looking at under £50 for the pair.
