  1. Went to look at a job this morning, and something you don't see every day parked up outside one house, a Mk1 clipper, mulberry VR and a polo GTI, all very tidy
  2. Well only a little update, engine and box out the VR thanks to a few helpers, James Cunningham thanks. Really didn't feel like doing anything today, not well but a bit of brute force and ignorance it was out, Kyle motivates me a lot he doesn't stop or give in
  3. Aaah, cheers for that. Looks like the poly box is different, trip to the scrappers is in order. I tried the boot actuator from the vento but the rod is too short so need one of these too and the pipe that runs from it to the pump
  4. Thanks. Need to know also does the vac pipe run through on the drivers side, I've got the loom and washer pipe on the passenger side, and two rubber bungs on the drivers side I'm presuming the pipe runs on that side?
  5. Cheers pal, needs to be done for Tatton Park, if not sooner. The pump was in the passenger side qtr on the Vento and pulled out the pump wiring loom from there as far as the dash, need to get it out the drivers side yet and wherever else it goes. Is there normally a bracket holding the pump do you know? Want to fit it in the right place
  6. Well a little update from yesterday and today, got a fair bit done. Dash support and heater box out along with fusebox and dash wiring. Engine and subframe out, started stripping the Vento of bits I need, got the central locking pump out and some of wiring and pipework for the locking, fitted the fuel flap actuator, not sure where the pump exactly goes on the Golf, it seems a tight squeeze compared to the Vento it was just pushed inside the rear quarter. Any ideas? Maybe the Golf has a smaller casing round the pump? Fuel pump and pipes removed as somebody had cut the pipes while it was parked
  7. Just after some advise, I'm transplanting my VR6 into a 1.4 Golf, now was going to run without ABS but the two braking systems are completely different, servo, master cylinder and ABS pump. Looked at the two master cylinders, the two pipes come from the VR straight to the ABS pump. The 1.4 cylinder the pipes come out in different places and on the bulkhead go to tee pieces which I'm thinking of using but don't think the 1.4 cylinder will be up to the job. Do I use the VR6 cylinder and modify the pipes, and leave the brake position sensor just leave the wire disconnected in the VR6 servo, or is
  8. It must just be on the early ones then
  9. The vento has those indents there too. How old is your VR? The Vento is 94 and the Golf 95.
  10. No, that's actually in the door shut on the outside of the seal so don't know
  11. You'll have me checking every golf now, LOL. Unless it's early/late differences? Doesn't seem to serve any purpose
  12. Not sure, aren't all Mk3's like that? Fairly sure the Vento has them up the B pillar
  13. Yeah, I do like them. Might use the standard lamps until some come up. I'm not painting trims etc blue so it will break it up a bit, don't want to over do it
  14. Cheers, I do quite like those lights but every time I look there is none. Might be too much blue though
  15. Well spent a few hours on it last night, started cleaning all the door shuts and boot shut and polishing the Golf. Really surprised, it really is coming up well and obviously well looked after, I will want to get the roof painted at some point as the lacquer is peeling, got a few better pics with the camera rather than the phone this time. Decided to stick with the black mouldings and no arches but can't decide on the rear lights. I like the look of clear and red lamps or do I stick with the standard? Not so keen on VR6 ones
  16. Please put my name down for a pass to be on the club stand Cheers Pete
  17. So the two pete's need to pull their fingers out! So as not to let the team down
  18. Will do! I will just have to make sure the car is ready then! No pressure
  19. I will have a pass, how much does the pass cost?
  20. I am but got a lot to do to get the Golf ready
  21. Yeah, the more I looked at the Vento yesterday as we jacked it up the more it's falling apart! Sad really but it's donating it's parts to a good home. My aim is to have it on the road for Tatton, so that gives me about 4 months. But I'm not going for all out show car so is realistic deadline I think.
  22. Cheers pal, yeah the pics on a phone don't do it justice, but will be different in that colour, correct me if I'm wrong but don't think they ever did a VR in that colour, like I said ages ago it's never going to be a replica, can't wait now to get it on the road
  23. Yeah, the original version. They did a new version of them but not very good. They are going for refurb soon, been on the Vento 14 years or more so seen a bit of action
