  1. Looks brilliant mate keep the updates coming !
  2. Well I have been doing a bit of work on this lately by stripping it for paint ect. I'm trying to get it ready for summer so I can use it as much as possible. So I started stripping everything out it like the seat, steering wheel, all the wiring and electrics, Then off came the radiator and exhaust manifold, Then out came the engine and gearbox, Engine needs stripped down and cleaned, painted and parts sent off for powder coating, And saved the best for last, Nitrous bottle to be mounted on a brace above the engine, I will update with pics once the chassis is all painted
  3. I wasnt sure if it had the plug or not but if its got it then its just a straight swap mate the wiring and ecu will be fine
  4. I took mine out and measured them then ordered stainless ones off ebay for mine mate cant remember the sizes but :S
  5. Or you could just change the upper timing chain cover and the end cam sprocket to make the 2.9 a dizzy then it would just be a straight swap
  6. I'm pretty sure you can use the same ecu mate but you will need a new loom as the old one wont have the coilpack plug and that on it
  7. I will go for that then I just thought it would throw it off a bit somehow lol. Thanks
  8. Will that not be too close to the open air and give it a false reading ?
  9. So just looking for a bit of advice guys, I need to weld a lambda boss into my stainless manifold as its running really rich without it and sooting up the plugs. So I was going to weld it in where one of the three pipes join so it would get a reading off 3 cylinders but I think it might be too near the end of the exhaust and could get a false reading. The other option is to just weld it into one of the single pipes up near the top but it would then only be reading 1 cylinder. Heres a picture of the manifold so yous have an idea. Thanks,
  10. Yeah I think if you build a twin turbo vr then its mostly just to be different and show that you can do it rather than high bhp really. Single turbo is obviously much easier and power is just the same depending on turbo
  11. Yeah you only need the bmw wire for the pos but it does need a decent junction box up front to connect it all otherwise you will lose current there. How is your neg connection is it bolted down good enough to the boot floor or that ?
  12. Did you use a thick enough wire and a good junction box up front mate as I've relocated batterys in 2 of my cars and never had any problems. I just went to the scrapyard and found a bmw and took the whole battery wire and junction box out and it works spot on. The wire is really thick about 13mm so there is no power loss
  13. I've done 3 sets of chains mate and there should be no slack atall between the cams. Make sure both the cam locking slots are bang on as if they are out by even 1mm the chain wont go on properly. Once both of them are exactly straight put the chain on one sprocket then you might need to move the other one slightly to get the chain into the teeth then turn it back and that should be it mate
  14. At what bit is it slack mate as wen your turning it over by hand sometimes the cams can jump forward a bit but the slack goes when you start turning it again
  15. At the chain side the crank rotates anti clockwise mate
  16. There is a circlip on the shaft that you need to take off then just chap it off with a hammer mate but make sure you remember what way the bearing cage goes and how the bearings fit in as its a knightmare to put back together
  17. I've not bought a set yet but it is on my list of things to get while I'm doing my rebuild over the winter, I think they look pretty good
  18. The thick gauze gasket that comes with them is the worst fitting gasket I've seen, the ports were out by about 3mm so I binned it and just used an oe one mate
  19. As far as I know you should be able to use the old ones mate as I have swapped mine and there wasnt a difference :S
  20. Just found this on ebay while looking at go karts. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=281199759557&globalID=EBAY-GB OMG not for the faint hearted is an understatement ! I couldnt even imagine how scary this would be. Complete bargain right enough because imagine how much it would cost to get any other car or buggy into this sort of league would be a lot more. What do yous think ?
  21. So does anyone know where the best place to get a decent lsd from and roughly how much we are talking ?
  22. Yeah suppose your right mate if Im gonna do it I might aswell do it properly lol
  23. Yeah I was thinking about that aswell or can you just take the diff out and weld it so that its permanently locked as its only for the quarter mile nothing else ?
