i just listend to the sound clip on here and mine dont sound like that , the tapping ive got is as though its only on one valve/clyinder ie its not a continuess rattle/tap , she got full vwsh upto 63k then local garage up to 80k

no its not a chain slap noice it stops as soon as the engine gets any sort of heat into it

when cold the engine sounds like it needs the tappits ajusting , when warm theres no noise at all , does the head gear need replacing ? ie shims or cam rollers , the engine is an early one that vw only used for about 24 months

i was the only car on clo*** lane in the snow this year it flew up waging its tale on demand , so if you get stuck this year give us a shout

the mods ive done so far are mainly interior ones i got the car for 2k ! but interior was grey non recaro , so now its got black recaro , and ive swaped all the wood trim for new black , i put the mugellos on (18") the only engine mod so far is evoms induction filter

one call direct , chaucer wouldt insure me . one call are about 30 mile from me , maybe the insurance companys are trying to keep it local are chaucer in your area?

ive been quoted £2500 for a full respray from a vw specialist , i think thats a bit steep theres only a couple of slight dings on the bonnet and 1 on the rear arch plus usual chips on a 11 year old car anyone had a better quote ?

ive had my drivers door hinge replaced with a new hinge only last week total cost £133 . ps thats on a mk4
