  1. spent a couple days sorting that out(getting the car out the pound and squaring up my licence situ)then got to work on the car again. sumps for comparison pulled the exhaust off to realign it all properly .:R pump in and sump on bit more snug bit more modifying new tailpipe fabbed, fitted and satin blacked
  2. thank you About this time I went through a pretty poor spell' date='smashed up the original sump breaking over bumps from highish speed on a rural road...got a spare sump from a mate but within a week on my commute to work in cruise mode going through average camera'd roadworks I ran over the base off a motorway cone that was lying in the middle of my lane and it mullered the new sump It wasnt leaking like last time but the oil pressure light would come on if you went over 2k so I suspected it had only been shoved up onto the pick up similar to the first sump but without the gaping hole so
  3. coming home from work one night the gear stick done a dead fish impression...investigation turned up a modified cup and lever and the lever had been pretty poorly welded tig welded it back together and its still holding up got some time to work on my other wheels seeing as progress was being made I worked out what specs of adaptors id need but double checking with wheels proper is always better than guesstimation so I got a loan of a couple of wheels from a mate and ordered them up
  4. Done a deal with a friend of a friend who is a painter. Got my new door fitted and the new wings fitted and the whole front end painted couple pics from another local vw meet
  5. couple pics from a local vw meet bought a pair of new wings, rolled them and undersealed them
  6. had a little play with the suspension, cut out the helper springs a adjusted the inner wings and arch lips then gave it a wash couple pics with my mates mk3 16v
  7. way back from march on my way to ultimate dubs
  8. You were already shouting,....be prepared to do lots more. A friend runs a de-catted tiny single box system on his he got from another friends old turbo and to say it is raucus is an understatement. I run a cat and a large rear box on a 2.5" system and its a nice compromise, you can still hear both the induction and the exhaust but also the radio/passengers
  9. bump from the almost death......still own this, still fixing it and almost always managing to daily it. Went through a spel where everything I fixed two more issues popped up. Currently nursing it about with a head gasket on the way out, bushes that are shot to hell that recent work finished off, fuel leaks(rubber bay hoses are weeping),oil leaks(sump/rocker),power steering leaks(untraceable so far)and probably some other stuff ive forgotten about. Picking up a parts car soon and hopefully next week will sort the majority off the suspension bushes and hopefully the engine mounts will be renewed
  10. sticking out the back of the hubs it wont, theres generally 23-25mm from the face of the disc to the abs ring. But running an adaptor below 20mm then you are close to a factory M14 bolt bottoming out on the hubface when you bolt the wheel on which is kinda why ive been saying 'bolt an adaptor to a wheel' just as a trial...you can easily check from checking the rear of that how much you can skim the adaptor down before you need shorter bolts as you really dont want to bottom out a bolt on the hub if you like your adaptors....
  11. Are you still running the RF's? Or are the adaptors for new wheels?
  12. varying styles of adaptor use varying styles of bolts, buying high tensile cap head bolts may not help the issue if the bolt seats do not correspond to the seats in the adaptor
  13. Are the rear off your new wheels flat backed? try bolting the adaptor to your spare hub and check how far the bolt comes through and if its going to hit your abs rings or not. try the adaptor on the wheel seperately and bolt them together to see how far from coming out the back of the adaptor you are
  14. It may be the back off the adaptor but that just gets your bolts closer to the abs rings and your wheel bolts close to bottoming out. Whatever side you machine reduces the amount of meat in the adaptor which increases the chance of your wheel bolts bottoming out on the hub, Im only going on my attempts to get mega low porsche fitment wheels on my old car and taking your adaptors down to 17mm then depending on the depth of the base of the bolt seat your original M14 vw bolts will bottom out on the hub when you tighten the wheels up... If you machine from the rear theres the chance both sets of
  15. quick ghetto check - A - poke screwdriver shaft through bolt hole till it hits the abs ring, check this against a bolt poking through the adaptor - B if A is smaller than B your bolts will foul ALSO - put a bolt in the wheel while it is off the car. Look at the rear off the wheel where the bolt pokes through and measure if that is less than 17mm as well....I know when I shaved my passat adaptors to 15mm I had to take three threads(at 1.5mm pitch=>4.5mm)off the end of the actual wheel bolts as well so that the bolts holding the wheel to the adaptor dont bottom out on the hub as well
  16. you know my thoughts dave, just want to add that the engine install itself is one of the better ones ive seen converted. Properly nice clean car, glad you stuck it out mate
  17. thursday night sorted out the camber and toe issue and dropped her more rear bentleys fitted previously on day of the death day but finally got a hold of the front adaptors fittage settled since, poor cam. phone 11pm pictures
  18. brain dead moment and took out the p/s today, photos later if I can bring myself to it
  19. Ill pass on the words The paint is now a slightly custom dragon green although it was originally factory dragon green anyway. The car although in good low mileage condition had the full drivers side keyed within a week of purchase prompting a full paint with a lot of subtle bits and bobs done as thats kinda my brothers style.
  20. Its his second,he had one a while ago but had to sell it due to stuff. He finally got round to getting another and found this one which at the time was completely standard and was really low mileage. Hes getting it back on the road for summer and im looking forward to some twin vr photoshoots
  21. My brother just dug up some old pictures, thought id share, hope you like
