  1. 'Doctor,I seem to have a wheel problem I need looked at'
  2. hahaha,I stored all the panels and bits from my mark one jetta when I stripped it and other mk1s ive stripped for parts and sets of wheels or interiors I come across. Found this tucked away beside these but the nardi is the same fitment as the momo I have on so going to swap that over at the weekend. Trying to find time to work on it is hard though. Picked up a short time contract job helping out my mate on the run up to christmas which finishes next wednesday so couple of free days before christmas to get work done
  3. Still do get done with this year first... Fit the 312s I sourced last night although im waiting to hear price on a cupra R set up with boxster callipers.Get rear callipers done. Fit the nardi steering wheel I found in my spare room last night. Clean up and fit coilovers.mildly roll the arches and fit wheels if the tyres arrive before the new year. Next year is mostly going to be about the state of the bodywork, hopefully find and fit a decent full cream storm interior
  4. I actually just stumbled across the sticky for it but it wasnt coming up in the search :s My spare room is a riot.....theres stuff in there ive literally clean forgotten about.Just came accross the mk4 rears which were supposed to be for my mk1,I bought them about four years ago at inters painted up red already with pads and back plates and theyve just lurked about lol
  5. informative read Im planning 312s for my corrado which has 280s and thought I could reuse the calipers but ill have to hunt a bit more now I guess. Out of interest where is the best place to source suitable braided hoses that will work with the 312s and also to convert the rear to a mk4 caliper. Also with having to source new calipers now necessary is it worth finding an R32 front assembly for the bigger again discs with calipers and carriers?
  6. cheers ben is there a write up anywhere of the parts required for the TT upgrade or is it just 225 discs and calliper carriers? I also need to source a brake line kit and handbrake cables for these mk4 rear calipers I stumbled across in my spare room 8-)
  7. I like atoms' date='but this reworked elise is just [img']http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5045/5236867245_b0bb0c1dce_b.jpg Oh......Twin turbo LS9 from a ZR1. Its called a Hennesey Venom GT. Twin GT35R's, 18psi, 1100whp, Ricardo transaxle 6spd, 2500lbs. Oh and it costs $900k
  8. yes im going to keep it.I already had a couple of sets of wheels lying for it but running it confirmed it. Got a quote today for paint for @1400,damage repaired, full windows out paint inc shuts, rolled arches and a few other odds and ends seen to.Its the same company that done my old passat and my brothers vento better pics though a bit higher on old rims and just out the booth
  9. it does indeed, been really enjoying driving it about and underneath it at my mates when it was on the two poster to fix the exhaust its al very good nick. Does mean however that the rotten looking(and feeling)brakes which I knew about but didnt care when I bought it are going to get done soon as possible. Looking into going 312 as the brakes just seem really poor. My previous bora, passat estate or audi A4 20vTs would all easily have out braked the corrado so 312s and braided seem like a logical first step as even my mk1 golf has bigger brakes than my corrado lol
  10. ill bear that in mind all appears to be back to sweet for now lol
  11. This, there are a couple in the UK but all private imports. Not sure how much lighter the leon is if at all over the golf but id rather have a phase one leon over a mk4 golf. Would be interesting to see an R32 engined version with a turbo or two on it
  12. thanks for the rush of replies... spent twenty minutes under the bonnet today searching all the vac pipes and one had fallen down onto the exhaust heat shield. Replaced and rerouted ran the car up to temp and took a short drive and problem cured
  13. Just fixed the high idle problem and stuttering that had developed,The recent snow derived rough roads had dislodged a vac pipe onto the header heat shield which roasted it in a couple places.Replaced and rerouted a shorter pipe so it doesnt happen again. In other news shall hopefully have the coilovers in my posession on friday so I can strip down and clean, cars booked in for a garage visit for a quote for paint and bodyworkand im running about way to busy with wrk to fit any real car time in ... Looking like turkey and coils for christmas day
  14. It can be,I overfilled my car by accident(mk2 jetta)a few years back and the overspill came out a breather which split went over the exhaust and ended up with a nice little engine bay fire which I luckily managed to put out after the initial panic. As said the extra hydrocarbons going through the exhaust will be annihalating your cat but yeah it isnt the best in general. How far over the top mark did you fill it? Just a woman I know thought you filled the oil up until you could see it at the cap
  15. Had a delve through the search history and got various results for a couple random things my engine is doing although symptoms are recent, today tbh but felt it on the way into work and hoped that it was just me being paranoid. Basically the car,a UK corrado, has started idling high(@1200)and when driving at low speed it slightly kangaroos if im under 2k and in to high a gear. After the snow started my car was basically stuck in the street for 5 days but before starting it I double checked the coolant hadnt froze(our area 'peaked at -22)and it was fine. In all other regards it is running fine i
  16. maybe too far north for you but a guy on scottishvag just got an early small block mk1(G40 equipped)and is now fitted with a vr...I had a random run through of the site a few days ago and noticed the build but the conversion was done by a guy in dunfermline up these ways(dougie aka trix aka white mk3 air equipped vrT pvw feature)but the swap got done over a weekend but more importantly there are decent pics(actually the best ive seen for the conv)of the fabbed rearward conv. mounts in the thread.Sorry to have thrown you a bone with no link but svag depresses me but the car is in the members m
  17. seems there are none but thank you for the flood of replies
  18. From the researched conversions ive followed the subframe route is possibly the most fab. intensive to get looking factory.Ive seen a few with d/s leg notches for clearance that look pretty butchered and possibly the most factory looking were sectioned out,mk3/rado sub-frame mounts grafted into/onto the legs off a mk1 with a front section fabbed up for the factory mount. This will be the route im taking on mine
  19. sourced a swap for the konis for other suspension, cars booked in to get the exhaust fixed, wheels are at the powdercoaters after I prepped them, remnants of badge removed does anyone know if there is locating lugs under the side trims?
  20. how are you planning on fitting the engine? Are you going the subframe or custom mounts route?
  21. We get rounded allen key bolts a lot on older wheels and your better using a slightly larger spline tool than trying to tap in a bigger allen key. A double hex spline will hammer in easier than the allen and if your lucky will have enough bite to remove
