  1. I would like to ask a favour of someone who will be coming up from Kent area to near Manchester area. I am buying something off Tony and can't get down to Kent before inters and would like it before then, so if anyone is passing or doing the journey, pretty please could you pm me? Thanks.

  3. I will try them out and see how well they do, see if the 17s fit on the mk2 with enough clearance then will do test the braking.

  5. I am assuming you are running 18" wheels to fit those, suppose you at running a mk4 though. I will be running a mk2 Vr. So it should be fine to fit 280mm on rear or is most people saying don't bother?
  6. Very true about the 4 motion etc. Just a am thinking of putting some 4 pot calipers on the front and probably 330 discs and didnt want the rear to be poor performing compared to the front plus they will look very small
  7. With 312 disc on the front or 330, can I upgrade the rears to 280mm? Or will it lock up and slide everywhere with better brakes on the rear

  12. Yeah I am thinking it's a joint, but which one ? Lol hard to find out. Shall I just replace the drive shaft or take it apart and just do the joint? Luckily for me the engine is coming out next week anyway and going in the mk2 so could just do it then
  13. Now think it's driveshaft as it seems to get faster the faster I drive. Don't see what else it could be
  14. Not sure, it doesn't sound good so probably going to try and leave it unless necessary
  15. Knocking got worse on way home from work, but it does not do it when turning, only way driving, mostly when slowing down. It's not engine mounts, could be top mounts or a bushing, sounds like it is bouncing up at down with nothing cushioning it. Will jack it up tomorrow and have a look.

  17. I also think the top mounts may be on their way so could it be them or would that only be on full lock?
  18. As I was just driving to work my car developed a knocking noise when turning or slowing down, I am thinkin either cv joint or engine mount? It didn't do it when accelerating. Any ideas?
  19. Either try hammering a torx bit in like dan said or put your Allen key in, get a massive set of mole grips and tighten them as tight as you can, it will crush the bolt around the allen key and it should turn out
  20. Mine idles low at around 600, I think 920 is too high for a standard vr
  21. i have been doing some work on the mk3, headgasket etc rebuilt it all myself as this engine will be going into the mk2 so trying to keep it in good condtion i also painted the calipers red, good old hammerite! here is the mk2 i picked up yesterday, came as a bare shell without windows etc. got everything to go in it so got busy yesterday. it is a good solid shell with literally just a tiny bit of surface rust This is everything i got with it, layed all across the garden! The joys of windscreens!
