  1. Apparently 'superfast' VR's still make good getaway cars ;] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRW5PrQMkxo
  2. Try disconnecting the battery overnight.
  3. How about a few old motors, Nick Mason the drummer from Pink Floyd had a 'souped up' VR6 as a daily, and one of these, yummy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnUEz2WS7Q http://www.brain-damage.co.uk/nick-mason-interviews/september-1998-webchat.html
  4. Autos aren't as quick as manuals off the mark, they 'go' from tickover so no dropping the clutch at 4500 rpm. You say the gear changes are sluggish, do you mean from 1st to 2nd and above or just 1st? (if you're in 'D' then you're already in 1st so there's no gear change).
  5. Loads of great vids already - brilliant!
  6. Please could we have a section for VR6/driving videos? Have you seen a better one? m4FCdJR5JZA
  7. ^^^^2nd dibs on passenger door lol;) Very unlucky bud, feel for you. Will be interesting to see what the insurance payout will be compared to expectation, they will try and wriggle out of what they can, go for more as it is/was a rare motor.
  8. The auto box can throw itself into 'safe mode' i.e. third forward and reverse only, usually as a result of it getting inputs out of range from normal -not familiar with not being able to rev it tho - mine did something similar when a new coil pack was fitted, a couple of days later it went back to normal on it's own. You can drive in just 3rd for a while if you get the engine running- there's no clutch to burn out. If you can't get reverse it's a bigger problem.
  9. Things are looking a lot better for me now - the search works 100% and for the first time in ages I can find my own posts rather than someone else's.
  10. I'm having trouble with finding my posts, any search results and sub forums from the home/any page - there don't seem to be enough options to find your way around - but it's been like this for a while. Anyway, here's the vid I was going to put up in the right category but couldn't find it Still using Vista, which is probably my own fault, and Chrome, and I'm getting old. Best wishes tho, I've had data loss, not nice.
  11. I'm kinda liking this noise a lot Uz58CMSGd8g . Any ideas what's being used? ta ^o)
  12. I get the shivers when I hear 'Renault Modus'. Driving down the outside lane of the dual carriageway I noticed a M M m odus waiting at a junction opposite, OK, I thought, he's going to pull out across me and the bloke on the inside lane (were both doing 70), and he 'went for it' at about 15mph. I felt sorry for the guy on the left expecting the MMm odus would go to the slow lane................... nah - he stayed in the fast lane. Brakes? Luv 'em.
  13. No point having a quick car and paying top dollar for fuel if you don't 'give it some' sometimes.
  14. Good news, the box has reset itself on it's own! Gotta love cars that mend themselves.
  15. Hoping that someone has a VAG COM near Epsom Surrey I need some codes reading/ removing. Thanks Andy
  16. Just had a new coilpack fitted, crankshaft sensor needed tweaking/cleaning to start. Now the box starts in 2nd and changes fine, it will go into 1st if you move the selector but not 'automatically'. Any ideas? Thanks

    FAIL mk2

Like the idea of contrasting the Cavalier front lights with Ferrari rears, tidy.
  18. The last 2 answers are ; Yes and the ford part number is f7364573 and the sensor is for US emissions and not used over here. Someone else will be along to answer the first 2 .
  19. Did exactly the same thing myself a couple of months ago, oil all over the place, no damage done as I pulled up shortly after, you were lucky not to get the dreaded 'splashback'.
  20. Yep done mine already - let me know if you haven't received it.
  21. Virgin are airing Sky Sports for free this weekend including Formula 1 in HD 8-|
  22. Wot? No hills? Good luck Sir.
  23. He's in Devizes (in the news at the moment cos someone had an argument with the ex wife's solicitor) between Wadworths brewery and The Crown pub, here's a pic of his modest billboard. Forgot to say that Viktor and co did the work at around 10.30pm - and it took 20 minutes for the AA to answer my call.
  24. I thought I'd found a reasonable local garage to do work on the VR until tonight when fuel started piddling out from the engine. About a month ago I had them change the two fuel pipes that go to and from the rail as the original ones were cracked and a bit 'niffy', not for VW ones as they were £45 each, but for standard fuel lines that would 'do the job' all was good until driving tonight when the smell got too much. I parked up outside one of those Ukranian car valeting places that used to be a garage and noticed petrol was dripping on the concrete - phoned the AA and waited. They arrived a
