  1. thank you Also do the bolts need to be torque'd at all. i've got to do this job tomorrow really as the leak is getting very bad. While i'm at it can someone tell me how a VR6 is meant to sound over 3000 revs coz mine seems to gurgle a lot when excellerating hard, is this normal or is something amiss. i've only had the car 3 weeks so i'm still trying to get used to it and its not the same sound as the all the other dubs i have had, but the rest have been various 1.8 models.
  2. is there any online guide about coz i'm still trying to eliminate where i'm losing my oil from so the rocker ans sump gasket are next on my hit list. Cheers John
  3. hi guys maybe a daft question but does anyone know where i can get an oil cooler seal from. i tried german and swedish but they dont do it for the vr cheers john
  4. sorry forgot to say that the idle speed is fine now to, was on 500rpm before and it kept fluctuating but now its a steady 750 rpm. i havn't taken it for a run yet either just wanted to run it all past you guys first
  5. sorted the problem as described in my last thread on here cleaned the MAF and new plugs and leads are on Started the car up and it runs and sounds loads better but it seems to be running a little rich is this the maf doing something?

  7. Hi guys do i have to take my TB off the car to clean it or can it be done still attached, coz i read somewhere that if i take it off i have to have the UCU reset Cheers John

  9. How do i tell if my engine is a 12v or a 24v, I know this may seem a stupid question to a lot of you guys but i'm new to VR ownership lol cheers John

    I used to have both my ears pierced 7 times, both nipples, labret, eyebrows done twice each side, tongue done twice, and my tragus. i woke up one day looked in the mirror and got bored and took them all out lol apart from my labret, tragus one earing and one tongue bar. i dont look so much like metal mickey now lol but i do have 23 tattoo's that i cant take off lol

Ok quick update, i got the git of a plug out and all new plugs are in place, i'm buying new leads tomorrow so that bit is done. i took the MAF out and cleaned it today and the tube running up to the throttle body was cleaned also. I noticed that the throttle body flappy plate ( sorry i dont know the technical term lol) is a bit dirty, can i clean this while it is still attached to the engine or do i have to remove it, i'm a bit concerned coz i've heard that the ecu needs resetting if i mess about with it. any idea's guys cheers John
  12. still got one plug stuck in, it seems to be at a different angle that the rest of them i'm not sure if the socket is going far enough over for it to bite on the nut
  13. quick update tried to take the plugs out today, two are stuck fast, and two were in a bad way and two were covered in wet oil. also two of the HT leads fell to pieces in my hand. so after one week of ownership the vento is now off the road
  14. now the bloody thing keeps cutting out compeletly, went to pick up the kids from school today and i put my foot down (normal driving) and all i could hear was a gurgling noise from the exhaust but no power at all

  16. my catch tank is on the drivers side front just behind the headlight, they are ment to be emptied every 4 months ish. do you have a level marker on yours? John

I had a mechanic friend of mine look at the VR6 yesterday and he said what its doing is called hunting, its where the power dissapears and then the car jolts. it does it in 1st 2nd and 3rd gears. and on tick over it either sticks on 500 revs or the rev will go up and down as if i'm revving the car. im off to town today to get some carb cleaner. i've been told to clean out the air flow sensor, idle control valve and ive got to change a pipe on the fuel actuator valve coz it has a sillicone pipe on and apparently that is very very dangerous coz it can swell and cause a engine fire.
