  1. marco what sort of hillclimb stuff do you do and where do you do it? would the VR not be better than 16v for that sort of stuff with more torque?
  2. no comment about the japanese motor!!!:-) AmaZak how do you find the MKV GTI compared to the VR?
  3. Haha I have had that terrifying moment where you are waiting for the 4K rev push but then remember you are in a 1.4 petrol 206!!! Usual requires a quick change of boxers!
  4. HAs anyone got any pictures of a MK3 golf with MKV GTI alloys on? I have hunted everywhere and cant find one. Cheers
  5. Ah sorry just re-read the post. A mate has the straight 1.9 d with 200,000 on the clock. I have no idea what is holding it together, the bonnet hit his windscreen a couple of months back when he was doing 70(with the wind behind him) on the motorway. Great French design!!! haha
  6. Loving the split screen bus. What engine is in it to get thsoe sort of times?
  7. Ah a 306 DTurbo, cracking wee motor! I came very close to buying one of those resently....might yet!
  8. Saying that, I would be very happy with a 412 BHP daily driver!!!!!
  9. Im guessing you aint meaning a VW bus??
  10. Thats a lovely daily motor mate and looks to be in great condition. I thought from the thread that you had just bought it??
  11. The cover for my fuel doesnt sit flush with the bodywork anymore. I presume it has lost a stopper that it should rest on. Consequently it sits in rather than flush. When you lock the car and the pin goes into to stop it being opened, it forces it back into flush position. Anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it? It looks rubbish so any thoughts would be very welcome. Cheers
  12. Was just wondering what other cars people have as well as their VR6? Anything interesting?? There must be a few hiden gems and weekend / project motors!!
  13. Mate, i am about to have a go at getting my dragon green's paint work sorted. Always interested in what other people are using? did you have a polisher or just by hand? came up a treat! cheers
  14. mate as a premium member I think that you get 10-15% off as gsf so I would suggest you definitely price them at least.
  15. You now have a good clean hard base so when you wash it, the dirt should come off easily leaving your nice wax shine behind. You could at this point go over it with some quick detailer spray and cloth and this would bring it up even more ;-) Dont worry it isnt a wasted effort, it will still come up nice and shiny. I personally use the autoglm shampoo to wash the car and it comes up a treat. Hope that helps. Cheers
  16. if you did the first two steps of the three step Megs stuff and then used SRP, would that not take off the first two steps? Just a thought? Yeah dont be wiping over with a dry cloth or it will just scratch your nice paint work. Cheers
  17. Cheers Ben thanks for the link. I am liking those wheels, where do you find them??
  18. Has anyone done a post as to how to DIY refurb the original Alloys? Cheers
  19. Im watching with interest mate cause I am suffering the same problem. was all fine, then I gave the interior a good clean the other day and since then, I cant get the wee bugger to switch off!
  20. Excellent mate that sounds like the boyo. Yeah it does sound like a milk float! Cheers for the help all.
  21. haha mate thats never good...mines not too far away from being that bad. Worst when you back off when you have been booting it a bit.
  22. I wish mate, unfortunately it is completely standard at the minute. cheers
  23. Well that is a possibility mate because I have noticed that it does pull slightly to the left and I had been thinking about getting it 4 wheel aligned.
  24. Guys My engine makes what can only be described as a whining noise when it is started from cold. Any thought? It doesnt sound like the marble description of the timing chain. Cheers!
  25. No mate, I bought the car about a month ago and the history shows that nothing major has been done in the last 6-9 months. I am planning to do the service myself but if I cant bottom this out then I might have to get someone to have a look at it. Cheers
