dont need to disconnect battery for abs sensors as they are not live when the ignition is of. You may need to clear the fault on vag com i dont think removing the battery lead will reset it
remove your ignition cowling then you will see a cirle around the ignition barrel follow the wires from there to a black box under the dash you might just need to replace the ring around the ignition

try getting some lagging for your fuel lines to see if that helps but the vaporisation could be in the fuel rail a thermal intake gasket might help your problem
i think you need to bleed the abs unit via vagcom since i changed my calipers my abs light seems to have fits ill be bleeding mine via vagcom next week(or trying to )
