The cable comes in two halfs on a Mk3, What half and why are you replacing it?
-
Nearly got the VR ready, Had a few problems fitting the kit but managed to get some useful pictures from CCR Racing and this might help anyone who is fitting this kit, Also have a few more pictures of pipework and where to cut the tensioner and grind the head.
-
Unsure where you can get a diagram from, If you can wait untill tomorrow i will see what i can do

Great looking Cabrio, I bet you suprise a few people in it, How did you get the R32 pedal covers to fit as i have some but not happy with the fit as seem loose? -
What colour is the leak and does it smell realy bad? I would suggest the rear main oil seal or lower timing casing, but you will have to remove the gearbox to check
-
I always place the stands on the round section when you look under the car at the front as the sills are usually crushed. just make sure the wheels are clear of the ground, handbrake on and to make 100% sure once off the ground spin the wheels to make sure nothing catching, Let us know how you get on?

Darn car needs more parts please help...

Replaced both front hubs on my VR and bought them from G/S/F, Just remenber that you need a wheel bearing as you have to press these apart to replace the hub. If you do decide to replace the hub make sure you check the new one has the abs pickup fitted or transfer your old one!!! I would say replace with new as the parts are only cost me £40 from G/S/F and if you buy second hand you might end up replacing the bearing anyway. Hope this helps -
Doesn't sound like that sort of a noise, Hows the gearbox? Maybe a good idea to raise the car on axle stands and run it, see if you can make/find the noise that way?
-
Rotrex Charger!!!!
-
Have you had a look at the drivers side suspension to see if anything looks out of place or hanging down? Does the noise change when going round bends or when coasting, And does the noise increase when speed increase's?
-
It was the front ones that wore out on my VR and it has original VW arms. i hope the bushes were right as got them from someone who worked there!!! I think it was also due to the terrible roads around me!!! Powerflex did have the bushes back to inspect and put it down to a bad batch, they replaced them with new ones, but i never fitted them again

Noisey Tappet after Rebuild, Any cures?
Charged VR posted a topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
Hello, Can anyone help with this one as driving me mad, Carried out a full rebuild on a spare engine that i had sitting around for a year, Had the head and block oil ways cleaned and a new oil pump was fitted Everything is good and the engine runs perfectly apart from a noisey tappet that i cannot cure, Have narrowed it down to the exhaust side nearest the coilpack, but will replace all 12, Just wonderd if any one has ever used a flush and can recomend one? Or if there is anything that someone has tried that worked, Thanks -
Fitted the powerflex bushes to the lower arms of my VR and after about 6months the car drifted when flooring it on the motorway. Found the front bushes had worn oval and the lower arms were floating around. Best to keep an i eye on them mate

Had a Hessitation on my friends VR that got worse when hot, Took me ages to find it, But ended up being the wrong plugs were supplied by G/S/F, Bought genuine ones and no problem since. Also is the little vacumn hose from the inlet manifold to the fuel pressure reglator intact? -
Heaters/blowers stopped working

Do your headlights and coolong fans work still? -
Thats the right reason for your problem, You need to buy the larger top sring caps or change the Suspension for the right one, Should have bumpstops front and rear, You can buy them from G/S/F, But they may need triming down as the car is lowered
-
Unsure where and how to mount the fuel pressure regulator valve, If anyone who has fitted this kit would please give me an idea as this is driving me insane!!!!! :@ Any pictures would be great too!!!! Thankyou!!!!!!!!!!

The Mk5 Haldex/4motion is slightly different to the Mk4. This system runs a electric pump to supply instant presure to the coupling, so instaed of waiting for wheelspin/slip it pedicts it and engages the 4wd before you pull away, so there will be slightly more transmisson losses than a vr but better traction, Also if the 4wd cant cope then esp will take over and back off engine torque, Does that make sense?

Has the clutch felt heavy? The rod is part of the master cylnder which supplies fluid to the slave cylnder which pushes the clutch, and the white plastic clip locates the ROD of the master cylnder to the pedal. Check the pedal as there is a small box section that the white plastic clip fits into and the front spotwelds can break and the rod comes through and jams the pedal down, If this has happend then new pedal,

If you are thinking about replacing your ignition leads then i cant recomend Dubpower enough!!! Bought some 10mm High Performance leads and they are Top Quality. The Spark plug cap is longer to help fitting and removal and they look fantastic. Due to the size of these leads they do not fit in the original channels but they do sell standard 7mm leads at around £40!!!! Nearly £100 Cheaper than VW and £20 Cheaper than G&S!!!! Also Make a Decat pipe with a flexy section Well worth a look duppower.co.uk

I have changed my trim to black, i found it cheaper to buy cloth and retrim, as everyone wanted silly money for the highline trims. The Mk3/Mk4 cab has Black Sun Visors and clips and i used Passat Grab handles from a 1990.
