Really want the car back on the road, would consider buying whole engines depending on price/location.
-
Gloucester. Thanks.

fantastic, how much would you want for the internals or how much for the whole block?
-
HI, I'm after a intermediate shaft and oil pump drive cog and oil pump drive shaft as per this picture many thanks Dave
-
long story short, the bottom timing chain snapped on my engine so I am rebuilding it. I am at a stage where I want to fit the new chains. However unlike in all the guides when people remove the intermediate shaft bolt by locking the flywheel with the existing chain attached I don't have this option. Any ideas how to lock the sprocket in place so I can undo it - It's rated at 100NM so it's going to be on tight!!? So far I tried wrapping the old top chain around and locking the cams but without the top tensioner system in place the chain is too slack. only other ideas I have at the moment

since having my corrado resprayed i have become more paranoid than ever. I find the thing that annoys me most is that i go out of my way to park in the quietest areas of a car park, i park as near to the curb as possible and yet in barely 2 months i have acquired 3 dents in my drivers door and a scuff on the front wing :-( The sad thing is people think its strange that i care so much for a metal object, no, i care for MY property and expect others to show some respect.

just in case you havent already thought of this but id be keeping an eye out for any new or crash damaged Mk3s in your area as its highly lightly someone has had a lil bump or has just purchased a mk3 and wanted your parts! if you find the mk3 and the bastard, just remember it wasnt the cars fault its owner is a shite so dont be going excerting revenge on the car! dave

now that is funny especially the two guys on deck chairs thinking WTF i felt the need to check on my old house and sure enough the pic from circa 2000 shows 2 mk2s, 1 mk2 rocco in my front garden - lucky for me my mum would never check as i was meant to be looking after the house for 6 months not filling the garden with cars.

yes i have the original VR6 brouchure in a PDF, may even have the highline but you can download that from Volkswizard website www.volkswizard.co.uk/brochures/golfvr6highlinebrochure.htm if you pm your email address i can send the standard brochure to you.

16v Final Drive. having shorter gearing so you can actually make use of the VR power . Problem with stock VR6 on track is the number of corner where you will have to drop down to 2nd where as the clio will be able to blaze through in 3rd. Dave

original paint ? Well feck me if it is that is like a mirror finish!

come on people. One less Corrado VR and no doubt one brand new Kia on the road to replace it. Its for the good of the earth because everyone knows that a 15year old car capable of 25mpg is going to kill the planet where as building a new car taht can do 30mpg using raw materials, shipping it all around the world and delivering it to a forecourt has NO environmental impact whatsoever.

that would have been me :$ :$ Mike - if you were one of the several members of Club Polo I actually spoke to then I found you were all sound guys think we have drawn a line under all the "other" stuff and appreciate the majority of you were good peeps. If your after a Vento VR6 in the future then hang around on the site and we will all be more than happy to help when you come to be thinking about buying one mate :) Had a very nice note to it, bliping the throttle whilst crawling along. The Vento is my plan for next year when im 22 with possibly 5 NCB and enough money to properly maintain -

I think they are great, would rather do that to my 16v then a 1.8T. Who owns the R32, didnt see the engine but one of the CP members said a Capri Green Mk2 had one installed - was on a trailor. -

I was there on Saturday with 'g40jon' and later on in the day i did stray off into your area to have a good nosy at some of the cars (Blame the whiny 5dr Golf driving up and down attracting me!). Proberly some of you were worried i was a dodgy Club Polo member but i do own a Mk2 Golf 16v so i was interested at looking at the Mk2s in your group. Some people are saying you were not aproachable and i just thought whats the worst that could happen - the owner of a car coming and talking to me about it? I wasnt there for the nights so i was more disapointed by the number of cars in your group, when -
those crazy americans. how can 1/4mile be anything other than. I thought the americans use miles but do 400m sprints as opposed to 1/4 which is 402m but 2m isnt going to make a huge difference is it?

Whilst browsing U-tube last night i stumbled across a 'Car & driver' review of the 1995 mk3 golf GTI VR6 from the US. Apart from the fact that they praised the VR as being a great progression of the mk2 16v and having a 6cylinder engine was fantastic and seemed to contradict almost every UK review i have read which slates the handling as being to soft and understeery they also managed some rather impressive performance tests. They managed to get 0-60 of 6.7 and a 14.3 quarter mile. These seem very good for a standard car, iirc is UK spec VR is said to have a 0-60 of 7.1 and a 1/4 of around

vr6 mk2 golf fails to start and floods HELP........
kerrly replied to mk2vr6jazzblue's topic in The MK2
id check your coolant sensors as they may well be playing up an tricking the ECU. Is the car running rich at the moment? is the exhaust and spark plugs particularly black and sooty? Fuel pump relay and cam shaft positioning sensor can also lead to temporary cutting out and not restarting but if left a few moments they fix themselves again and the engine will fire straight away. When it dies does the engine turn over as normal but just not fire? -
speaking from experience of paying silly amout of money to insure a BMW at 19 id say wait, looking back i was a tit and i was (ONLY) paying £2K but when i turned 20 i could insure a mk2 GTI for £600 If your mate needs to sell the car and you really want it buy it and store it. Wait until you are 20 and have your 2 years NCB and then SHOP AROUND. have you tried Brentacre, Adrian Flux , HIC - these companies all like young people in high risk cars and could save you a fortune. They also offer up to 15% discount if you go through the owners clubs. To pay £400PM insurance is beyond bonkers, es
