  1. So do you advice the 205's or the 195's?
  2. My car feels very light on the front end, from this i mean it feels as if it wants to slide and not much grip at the front end, also its feels funny on the steering. Its if you boot it then let off the throttle it wants to wander. There is no play in the steering and the tyre pressures have been tried at various amounts. I just feel it should have more grip at the front than it does any thoughts??
  3. Ok, probably been asked before here goes. Been running some 16's for a while and have managed to get a set of RS8 alloys which are 17's, they are currently fitted with 225/40/17 which gives an overall diameter of 612mm. My current 16's are fitted with 215/40/16 and this is an overall diameter of 578mm. Problem is that i did originally have fitted some 205/55/16's which rubbed at the back and this was a diameter of 632mm. I have been looking and the best option would be 205/35/17 but i cant find any. Next would be 195/40/17 but again hard to find. The easy option is 205/40/17 but i am worri
  4. Cheers for the response xyber. Well when i saw the power issues i disconnected the negative terminal of the battery for about 5 mins hooked it all back up and its running like normal and there are now no errors on vag com very strange. The battery is reading 12.5v which is fine and when car is running its up at 14 showing that the alternator is doing its job. I don't know whats going on might be a loose connection somewhere but its certainly not the battery very weird!.
  5. Been looking up these fault codes and there is reference to battery issues. This morning i noticed that the speedo trip had gone to 0 and all the computer readings were reset as if the battery had been lifted which it had not. Could this be part of the problem?? The battery voltage all looks ok. Also there is mention of a solenoid any ideas?? What is this solenode they talk about?? Possible Causes * Wiring/Connectors from/to Solenoid Valve 6 (N93) Open or Short to Ground * Solenoid Valve 6 (N93) faulty Possible Solutions * Check/Repair Wiring/Connectors from/to Solenoid Valve
  6. Ok, Mine is OBD2 and i have hooked it upto VAG Com and get three faults coming up which it tells me i have to register to know what they are. Faults are: 00668 Supply voltage terminal 30 07-10 Supply voltage too low 00268 Register to decode 18978 Register to decode I get the same results with the car running or just with the ignition switch on. I tried with the MAF disconnected and it did not make any difference i thought it made it run just a little better but when i tried again it just sounds the same. Can you adjust the idle manually i had a look and cant see anything. This is
  7. Ok, A couple of weeks back i had an issue where i started the car from cold and it would not run unless i had my foot on the throttle, it just would not idle the revs just fell off. Now after i took the car for a run it cleared and started to run fine. Now for two weeks there have been no issues turn the key without touching the throttle and it runs fine. Today it did the same where you needed to give some throttle so it would idle, difference being that this time it has not gone away, even when warm the car is only idleing at around say 500rpm and when cold it just stalls if you dip the clu
  8. Cool, sounds a good deal. Where is it sparking at?
  9. You've too much money! Nah whatever you get will make a big difference. Whats the story with your car is it spluttering as you give it big licks? Also worth checking that your coilpack is ok, you can do this at night. The coilpack is the box at the righthand side of the engine where all 6 pulg leads connect into. Rev the engine and see that there are no sparks seen round this area as you rev it. If there are then you can fix it simply do a search on here for coilpack repair. Hopefully its just the leads! Cheers
  10. Yours has a coilpack! If you got the lead set for the car with the distributor then you simply throw away the extra lead which you dont need. Coilpack engines yours need only the 6 spark plug leads, a distributor engine requires the 7th lead to goto the coil. So the set for £27 on ebay sends all 7 leads and you simply turf the 7th lead away.
  11. Hi, I have a VR6 highline that is missing its front fogs, currently has the reflectors installed, i have found this on ebay at reasonable price http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-Golf-Mk3-Front-Indicators-Parking-Light-Crystal_W0QQitemZ260348341258QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item260348341258&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1301|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318 but dont know what front parking lights are? My car has the correct harness and associated wiring to install front fogs would these plug into the fog light receptacles?? Anyone seen this setup before? Ch
  12. Yep i have the standard NGK's also with no problems.
  13. Its upto you but i would not pay twice the price for a different colour. Not sure of the make but for £28 you cant go wrong. The 4th set are second hand and they are easily knackered if they are not removed properly so you end up with a set as bad as you already have, I have the £28 set and they transformed the car running like a dream after fitting them. Mine used to hesitate if you booted it but with these it pulls perfectly. If it was me i would definitely buy the same again. Tirod on ebay is a good seller also. Cheers
  14. Did you price these up if so what are you going for and where from?
  15. If you want to bodge this for the mot simply hook the ABS onto the air bag warning and that will get it through the MOT. Easy to do simply take a feed from the Airbag led and connect to the, you could even be cleaver and put a capacitor inline to stagger when each led goes off. Of course you should get the fault sorted correctly, but i had a sensor go the other week and can honestly say that i did not really notice any difference without the ABS. From this i mean that when that led is lit the ABS is off as a fail safe the brakes go into normal operation. No difference as far as i can tell.
  16. I have just fitted the rear ABS sensor which i bought off this guy on eBay really good no problems can highly recommend. Much cheaper also. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-GOLF-MK3-MK4-AUDI-A3-CORRADO-FRONT-ABS-SENSOR-RHC324_W0QQitemZ200267492812QQihZ010QQcategoryZ9889QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1713.m153.l1262 He is quick at sending stuff out i have bought a few things now with no problems all decent stuff! Cheers
  17. Check out this on eBay only £27.99 plus £5 postage. I have had them fitted for about 3 months and they are brilliant real bargain, plus the bloke selling them is really good. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-GOLF-MK3-VR6-CORRADO-VR6-PLUG-LEAD-SET-C247_W0QQitemZ200269469611QQihZ010QQcategoryZ9889QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1713.m153.l1262 I highly recommend them spot on!
  18. Sussed it out, i had missed the pipe that feeds the windscreen vent. So its was only a case of clocks out and stereo to get it in all sorted blowing properly now.
  19. Yesterday i was proud as punch as i had managed to replace my heater matrix and everything was still working so i thought. Turns out that when the heater is on and the controls are pointed to the windscreen i get very little air coming through, If i point to the top or front vents then there is loads of nice warm air coming out. The heater fan is fine no issues there and there does not appear to be any leaks from the new matrix but i just cant understand why no air from windscreen vents any ideas. Where do the pipes for this go have i missed something anyone got any pics of how the air pipe
  20. Cheers for reply, with regards the heater matrix i simply took out the dash which is straight forward enough then i simply removed the 4 x large torx bolts that are at either side of the door uprights that hold the main crossmember piece in place that is under the dash. Then i released the 4 bolts (3 without air con) that hold the heater matrix and fan motor in place moved this forward then wedged it out with a piece of wood (bit brutal but works) then got a mate to hold it like this so i could remove the matrix and replace then let go and refit. Piece of piss really. Saves having to do an
  21. Any tips on how to replace the rear ABS sensor? Got it on Vag Com and found that the right rear was duff so got a new one and went to remove the old unit but it was stuck and ended up breaking, even after lengthy soak in releasing fluid. Anyway i assume that the disc off and then knock it out yeh? Cheers
  22. Happy New Year Laddies and Gents. Have just completed the lovely task of replacing the heater matrix and this has been the first time i have opened the glove box. In there i see a connection which the end of my imobiliser would appear to slot into can anyone tell me what this is for?? Does it turn the alarm off or override it?? Also managed to swap over the heater matrix without removing the steering column and the need for new shear buts what a bugger. Has anyone managed to get these off?? Cheers
  23. When i boot it from standstill in the car there is a strange clunk coming from the car it almost sounds like the exhaust but it is very tinny and sounds to be coming from the front passenger sort of side. It goes until you let the clutch out in second then its there again for a few seconds and again clears. Anyone any ideas what it could be??? Cheers
  24. OK i have posted before about my windscreen steaming up well some more info. When kneeling in the drivers side beside the foot pedals next to the clutch when you look up there is a black plastic shroud and there is coolant dripping here is this the heater matrix being knacked?? Is there a link as to how this is replaced?? is it the same as the corrado where you do not need to remove the dash?? Can you get away without pulling the dash out completely?? Cheers
