after a good chit chat with bob the engine builder and his mate who runs a hyundai pony pick up truck with a mid mounted vr lump ive gone for this systemhttp://www.omextechnology.co.uk/Ecus/710/omem710.htm the pony is running it and to be fair goes like greased sh1t off a highly polished shovel the options you get are quality. and its only £150 for a custom fit loom with loads of extra wire so i can hide it all too! yipee!! thanx very much for your help yall!!!

Using a stand alone ECU instead of a O/E one gives you the advantage of being able to monitor your engine paramiters from a lap top(as they are a windows based perating sytem) some have data logging facilities plus they can be very finely tuned ideal if your running high boost or a seriously tuned N/A engine the one im looking at even does water injection control which will be very handy when the blower is fitted once money allows me too.

the omex 700 series seems to be fully loaded wiyh the sequntial injection the bloke who i spoke to said he was more than certain that it was ok for my application, ill have read up on the throttle pos sensor signal, or i could use a corrado TB as the ecu is is fresh and unprogrammed?

has anyone fitted a stand alone engine management system to theyre six pot? i have been put in the direction of an Omex system there seems to be plenty to tweek on there a very versatile unit indeed. what are your thoughts?

the missus is seriously lookin at an S8 quite cheap when you look at what you get for about 9 grand. she only does 5 mile a day to work so the 4.2l fuel bill wouldnt be too wallet bendin. 360bhp and cruise liner comfort!

ill be there too, unfortunately without a dub, they are all slowly fading away and the vr is in a big pile of bits still and for the foreseable future

im putting a vr into a 91' mk2 in the next week or 2, the mk2 has a mk3 gti 8v fuse board by the looks of it(due to a 2E 2.0l conversion in the past) is this the same as a 93 vr6 board? what about the harnesses for the lights and dash components do these just plug and play? i want to fit the mk3 goof clock pod but i dont know how neat and tidy the drivers eye view is going to be is there any way of fitting say a G60 clock pod and butchering the wiring to suit? maybe a corrado dash conversion to accomodate the rado clock pod which looks a damn sight better than both of the above ideas! any idea

oil additives and petrol cleaners??

ive read some where that using products like slick 50 and STP do your engine no good at all, Briggs and Stratton the biggest engine manufacturer in the world tested these additives and the engine with no additives just your run of the mill oil lasted 20% longer on the test bed before failing compared to one that was running with em, they're study showed that your oil filter will remove around 95% of these additives out of your oil. money for old rope anyone???? i swear by a really good quality oil changed every 5k. jobs a goodun. :-p -

ive already bought a custom omex ECU,cos ultimately ill be fitting a 17 psi charger system as soon as money allows not to sure wether the ECU can handle ITBs or if you can run a charger through them.(positive inlet pressure and the such *-) *-)) for now i really want to get the core engine bomb proofed so i can throw what ever i want at it without it breaking. have you had any experience with them??
